What is the purpose of that squishy mat they put under meat in the
foam trays? I managed to rip one open and all that stuff was everywhere, it seemed. Is is supposed to make you think you're buying a plump piece of meat? I was trying to remove it prior to recycling the tray. Quel mess. |

Isn't it supposed to absorb and contain fluids from the meat, to keep it from leaking out of the package? |

Without it, blood always leaks into the grocery bag, which makes plastic bag bans all the more annoying. I did not go through four years of high school to be washing the blood out of my grocery bags. I suppose I could steal bags from the produce department -- there's no talk of banning these. Yet. |

Google: THE SPYCHIPS THREAT: Why Christians Should Resist RFID and Electronic Surveillance Lots of books on spychips available. We use them on our cattle eartags to trace movement in case of disease outbreaks. A bit expensive though to waste them on meat soaker pads but who knows?...Americans do the damn-est things. |

Yet. I'm surprised your meat department doesn't provide the same bags you find over in the vegetable department. They do up here. Before they started doing that, people used to start shopping in the vegetable section and they'd stock up on baggies to for their meats. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

In December, Adweek reported that "luxury meats" including filet mignon, were the most shoplifted item of all. No wonder some stores put RFID tags in their packaging. Here's CNET's take on the issue: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17852_3-57...his-christmas/ |

I remember one man walking out with a 28oz (or larger) can on the inside of a pant leg... which I pointed out to a checker, but nobody did anything about it. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

And turn it into "meat > juices"? You jump on anything that you can find a sexual angle in, and "turn it into" a rejection of sexuality. If you have a sex partner, I feel sorry for that person. Even tasteless jokes bring out accusations, and not only humorous obviously-not-true classic Usenet insults, but anything you can pull any kind of double entendre out of. Did a priest rape you as a child, or a family member? Maybe a next door neighbor? Your meataphorical vagina is sewn up pretty tight, Billy. --Bryan |
