I know that might be hard to believe, but I love knowledge for its own sake. Imagine yourself in an interview, and you're asked what you've been doing. Imagine saying that you have become fascinated by the metabolic effects of fatty acids and various ketones and aldehydes on plasma lipids and lypolysis in white adipocytes, and that you're written some stuff informally on the internet. Instead, you can say that you ridiculed this guy who had "become fascinated by the metabolic effects of fatty acids and various ketones and aldehydes on plasma lipids and lypolysis in white adipocytes, and [had] written some stuff informally on the internet." But that's silly, because after they Google you, you won't get the interview in the first place. > > John Kuthe... --Bryan |

Baffling them with the bullshit! Oh, relax! I know it's not bullshit, it's just a phrase. I've actually taken to heart and put into practice some of the things you've been promulgating here. Like using a couple of bell peppers thinly sliced and sauteed in EVOO as "pasta replacement". That's what I had for dinner last night! And it's not only minimally negatively impacting fullness-wise, it's pretty tasty! And where did you ever get the idea that being OCD was always a bad thing? It's not. Not always. It *can* be a bad thing, but OCD properly managed can be very useful and lead to great productivity! Sure it's a psychological disorder, but not one of the worst ones to have. It can often make a person rather boring and possibility irritating to others, however. John Kuthe... |

John, if you truly think a college degree defines how "smart" someone is, you're quite ignorant. Case in point- you claim to have three yet haven't impressed anyone here with your "smarts" and can't get/keep a job. My sister used to teach GED students. She said going that route is actually a LOT harder than high school, where you'd get half the grade just for showing up. Her students were required to learn and be tested on information I don't recall having to learn in HS. How about college drop outs- Steve Jobs and Bill Gates for example. Are they "stupid" because they don't have your three degrees? You just punched your ticket and fulfilled the requirements for a degree yet can't seem to function well in the real world so who is better off? |

No, college degrees to not define someone as smart. But they are accomlisments. Anyone who has a college degree knows this too. A college degree invilved intelligence which enables one to do the required work, but a degree also demonstrates that someone has the ability to stick with a long and difficult task (sometimes unpleasant!) and complete it successfully. A degree or any other formal education is unimportant. It's what they can DO that counts most. Several people went through the ranks at my department without a degree. Needed to pass the public service exam to gain entry however. I didn't begin to attain my degrees until I was in my late twenties and I started with the public service at age 15. Anyone who professes to have 3 degrees in disparate disciplines yet cannot get appropriate level employment in ANY of those fields needs to be regarded with some degree of skepticism and distrust. In the past I have interviewed many candidates for employment and the most common reason for rejection of a candidate, even though the skill set and experience was exemplary, was a criminal background or other dishonest practices such as faked credentials. I still think, if he does have 3 degrees, that they were purchased, not earned. Failing that, one can only assume he is a moron. -- Krypsis |

There are college degrees and there are college degrees. The degree of difficulty is dependent upon the discipline. A degree is a stepping stone in a career path hopefully providing the necessary underpinnings to a career in a particular field. Relevant industrial experience rounds out the degree and makes it much more valuable than the degree alone. For this reason, if I see a person who has a degree but has not worked in a relevant field for 10 or more years since its attainment, I discount the degree entirely as a factor in an employment application. -- Krypsis |

An employed Janitor with no student loan debt. I really do hope you get a nursing job, John. Just because you're going through one of your little psycho-asshole periods doesn't mean I wish you ill, but you don't improve your chances when you make yourself look both anti- intellectual and very dislikable to anyone who Googles you, and these days that's standard practice. You're way too smart not to realize all that, and it was the same foolish thing you did the other time, shooting off your mouth on the internet. Pointing out what you perceive as my personality flaws took presidence over taking care of your reputation. That's seriously misplaced priorities. I understand that I'm underemployed, and that the one tangible thing that my college classes led to was a band that never made money, and a single and an album that sold very few copies. My associate in arts and my junior year at U of Missouri-STL prepared me for one thing, The Bonobos. I am quite pleased with that. The band was certainly danceable--something you can't deny--and said a lot of what I felt needed to be said, and the whole experience is to me well worth everything that I put into it. > > John Kuthe... --Bryan |

You and Bryan are doing a really good job of brutalizing each other (with you on the bottom as usual). Also, a bunch of other people have spoken up lately to ask you what the **** is wrong with you. I also figure ruining your career was probably the last signal you needed from me that I despise you. I just wanted to drop back in and give you some advice - you can't give up. You have screwed yourself so badly, just by being an ass to friends and people who don't even know you. Your nursing career is over. It's clear you failed in your other careers. Unless you're waiting on an inheritance, you are really screwed. You're going to be that Janitor you so disdain. Mommy is going to kick you out of the nest 35 years too late, because she's going to have her own problems. Pick yourself up. Get a job and look for ways to advance. DON'T Post on the internet. DON'T lord your education over anyone you meet. Try to act like the people you work with. I know you don't understand normal behavior, but you can learn to mimic it. Above all, try to think of yourself as the least deserving person of everything you receive. Humble. The humble guy who does his job keeps his job. The guy who brags that he's too qualified for this gets hated and fired. You can joke about your temporary retirement, but we know from your posts you are not doing well financially. That coupled with your weird self-image is a prescription for homelessness. Are you prescribed medications? Are you taking them? Look into it. Goodbye, Johny! Are You? |
