Default Orangecello

Disregard everything I've said in the last "Lemoncello" thread.

I'm now making orangecello.

Same 190 proof poison. I put about 5 oranges worth of peels in with
about 350-400ml 95% juice. I'm not gonna wait 4 wks. I think 2 wks
of 95% ethanol would pretty much suck pure gold outta potato peelings.
Also not gonna mix it with 1:1 simple syrup, or not completely. And I
use pure cane sugar. Regarless, too much sweet. Gag a maggot. I'm
gonna try 1 part OG extract, 1 part simple syrup, 1 part water ...or
soda water ... or tonic water ....etc.

nb

ROTFLASTC! "Orangecello" is a funny word for me! You could name it
"Orancello", little easier to pronounce...LOL

Oh sure we can! English is a living language, we change it to suit us
all the time!

It's caramelize. No ambiguity there.

Wow! I think I'm on to something, here.

I jes tested my orange/everclear extract. I mixed 1 T org extract
with 1 T of 1:1 simple sugar and 1 T or water. Awesome!! That is
still 63 proof and it tastes fantastic. All the flavor and no
off-putting hotrod ethanol burn/kick.

I realize it's not even been 7 days, but I truly believe that 30 day
std is nonsense. Maybe not the case with lesser Everclear (150%) or
100 proof vodka, but I can't imagine there is much more "orange" left
in them peels. OTOH, I jes noticed my 30 day lemon peels did come out
like "potato chips", as one person described it. My org peels still
have some flexibility, so maybe there is some more "essence" to be
extracted. I'll check next week, when I plan to finalize the entire
jar of extract. I need to get a couple/three batches going and test
the aging times. One thing I do know, I'm gonna be eating a lotta
oranges.
