Default Red Beer

A can of V8, a dash of celery salt, and a nice, cold beer -- hits the
spot.

I never heard of combining beer before with another liquid. I did see
lime beer in the store last night-bet that would mix well with the V8.

I love tomato beers. I use Snap-E-Tom when I can find it, or V8 spicy.
Really good.

beer and tomato juice were consumed here once in a while. back in the
'70's. i'm not into the bar scene, so maybe some people still drink
that.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boilermaker_(beer_cocktail)

I remember drinking Michelobs with shot of vodka in them at the
Ramones show in St. Louis in '79?, '80?. I kicked in the back door of
Mississippi Nights to get in and never got caught. It was a 21+ show,
and both I and my GF were under 21. Once in, I didn't get carded at
the bar because they'd carded everyone at the door. That was a crazy
thing to do, but my GF really loved the Ramones.

Back in 1973-74 I lived with some roommates. One became a good friend and
he introduced me to red beer. It was just tomato juice in beer. He was
from Nebraska and told me that it was popular in bars there. It wasn't bad
but I only had one and never again.

Funny....a couple of months ago, I made one just for nostalgic sake. I
added some V-8 to my beer. I drank it but didn't make any more. It's novel
but not that good, imo.

Mexican restaurants in our area serve Chavela, or Cerveza Preperada. It
is Clamato, Tabasco, lime juice and beer. I never acquired a taste for
beer, so I have never tried it.

Clamato? You don't need any stinkin' Clamato... all ya gotta do is
open a Bud and lick your finger after didling your slit.

I don't know what you mean in regards to 'Mott the Hoople.' I really
haven't listened to them. They did the theme song for that Drew Cary
series 'Cleveland Rocks'; that's about all I've heard from them.

And speaking of Drew Carey. I really can't believe he's still doing "The
Price is Right." When he first started, I suspected it wouldn't last long.
He would do that until another comedy sitcom was offered. He's so talented
and funny. It's a steady paycheck for him though. IMO, "The Price is
Right" is a waste of a great comedian.

In the early 80s I read about people up in Yellowknife ordering "two
and a juice," i.e. two Blues and a Heinz Tomato Juice.
