Default Mango warning

I love mangos. Never had a bad one ....till now.

Yikes! So sour, makes a lemon seem sweet. I've NEVER ran across an
unseet mango, but hadda throw both of them out. Ick! Not green.
Nice orange/red color. Bizarre.

There are so many species of mangoes. You have to know what kind you
are buying. Skin color is not always the true test. I just had a
Peets- about 3 pounds with quite green skin, and I am sure would be
very expensive if bought, but its flavor was out of this world! A
friend grows them.

Lucky me.

Feel and smell are a lot more important to a mango's flavor than color.
Like an avocado, you want to hold the mango in your palm and squeeze
gently. It also needs to smell sweet. If it doesn't have some "give"
it's not ripe. Wait a day or two but be aware there's a short window
between ripe and over-ripe.
