Yeah, what she said.

I got a serious question for you, Shel. I'm looking for a decent, yet
not too expensive, fountain pen for myself and one as a birthday gift
for my daughter, next month. My daughter has beautiful handwriting
and I'd like to improve my shakey cursive skills. I'm looking for
something in the < $100 range, probly closer to $50. Any recommedations?

Well, as long as any trouble you may get into does not prove to be
without solution, go ahead and have fun! Best wishes to you and the
kitties on such a reminder of beginnings.

Hate to butt in, but I accidentally noted myriad antique fountatin pens
on ebay from the 20's and 30's. Schaeffer, Faber and the like, many
traditional American and European brands. Beautiful pens with a cool
antique vibes, some even indicated as unused or in original packaging.
Others with endearing wear.

Almost all of them were surprisingly affordable!

I strained my brain to think of someone to buy for as a gift but gave up.

Well! Happy Birthday to you from ME TOO, Sheldon!!!!!!!

I'm not sure how old you are but I started complaining about my birthdays
once I hit 50. My Dad always told me, "It's better than the alternative,
son." heheh

Today is also my daughter's birthday. I delivered her myself 33 years ago
tonight, right before midnight. The midwife was there supervising but she
almost missed the entire event.

I have to kind of chuckle at this whole thread, because he's often said
that he filters out anything with "Sheldon" in the Subject line.

I get confused by the fake names and consider him only BROOKLYN1.

In any case a toast: Here's to wishing you another 40 or 50 such
occasions. I'm drinking really expensive wine, and as you might
expect--it tastes terrible! :-)

For a first fountain pan in that price range it's primarilly a matter
of appearence, just pick a look that appeals to you. I strongly
suggest going to a pen store and trying them out, a pen has to fit the
hand. I'd stay away from used like from ebay, often minor repairs can
cost more than the pen is worth. Look here, click on "gift finder":

Nope. I spent most of the day mowing, and had a Genoa salami sandwich
for dinner with two cans of beer. Was just another day. I'm just
happy to be alive... lately I'm hearing of too many around here
entering hospice, all ages. One 50 year old woman who works in the
library was diagnosed with throat cancer, stage 3, had to remove her
tongue and make her a new one from butt muscle, only cosmetic, not
functional. And she never smoked. She can't talk, she can't eat.
Treatments weren't working and she took a turn for the worse and is
now in hospice. Cake would have been nice but not necessary, I can
live without cake. My cats wouldn't eat cake anyway, but they did
join in to help eat some nibbles of salami. I like good Genoa salami,
Hormel DiLuso is one of the better ones.

I never said I filter any posts, I never use my kill filter. I filter
by relying on my ability to read poster's names, there are several
posters I rarely if ever read, only if it's a thread I'm particularly
interested in will I open their post but if after the first few lines
it's just more of the same BS I stop reading.

The patch kits are because he doesn't cut his toe nails.

Chasing sheep and wearing tall boots.
