I can't remember what it was that I ate but I got really sick afterwards. The thing that really surprised me was how hard it was to get a drink there! I am not a big casino person having only been to the ones in this state a couple of times and the ones in Reno, Vegas and Tahoe a few times. But there, as long as you are playing the slots or the tables or whatever, they bring you free drinks. Not in Atlantic City! To get a drink there you have to find a bar and buy it. We didn't even see any bars in the casinos themselves. They were downstairs. |

Go much slower and you'd better keep your butt in the right lane and maybe consider not driving on those roads that time of the day if you're not comfortable. nancy |

Haven't you seen any of the high speed chases in CA... the CHP puts out spikes and the perp keeps going like nothing happened, and all four tires could be blown. You probably never drove a car with power steering... with todays cars and tires one can drive with a fully flat tire for miles and not realize it until someone alerts them or the tire disintergrates and they hear the sound of driving on the rim, and it could still take a minute for it to sink in that something is wrong. |

Have you ever blown a tire? I blew two in one trip from NC to NY in 1970. 1965 Corvair Corsa- doing 75 on I95. First one was a rear tire. That scared me a bit but no damage was done. A few hundred miles later I blew a front one. Love those cheap re-treads. If a 65 corvair with a very tired, inexperienced driver can survive a blowout or two-- I think you're overestimating the danger there. If you crash because of a blown tire, you're either really unlucky or you panicked and did something stupid. Jim |

The main problem is that the quality of the tire varies considerably - all those funny semi-circular rubber pieces you see on the highway are from lousy retreads. The question is how can you be sure that the retread job was done properly? The answer is that you probably can't. My brother-in-law lost his tire from a retread that failed. Bob Dylan was hitching a ride with them at the time and witnessed rubber being dropped from the truck in front of them. The brothers guess that it's what Dylan was referring to by "a truck with no wheels" in the song "Three Angels." It must have been a heck of a trip because along with the busted tires, there was a broken head gasket and my brother and Dylan had to go out into the night searching for some weed that Dylan had agreed to procure for them as payment for the ride. :-) |

I suspect that these kill more people than the reptiles ever did. I see these things on our roads where we travel something like 45 MPH so the problem must be worse on the mainland where folks travel a lot faster. Those gators should be outlawed on our roads! |
