Are you in Eastern Washington? I'm a bit worried about some people
over there
with all the fires.

How is it around you?

No, I'm in southern Idaho. A lot of our smoke today is coming from
Washington. Still, it's been two months since we haven't had air
quality warnings. It looks like a dreary winter foggy day outside. It
takes only a sneeze it seems to start another fire. The fires that
you saw on the news several weeks ago were successfully battled away
from small mountain towns. It will take fall/winter rain or snow to
put them out. We have 2 or three fires start daily around the city
from something or other. thankfully most of those around the
outskirts of town have been kept to several acres and have not
actually traveled the foothills ( a really bad thing) Currently we
have a couple burning in outskirts semi-mountain suburbs and
threatening homes. Unfortunately many firefighters left to go back to
university. This has put a strain on resources. The Interagency Fire
Center is located out of our airport and most days you can hear the
rumble of the big fire fighting tankers going overhead.
Thanks for checking on us.

I heard on the news this morning that it probably will take snow to
really put all the fires out. Unfortunately that is a ways off.

I hope everyone stays safe.

Unless she's West of the fires, it's smoky. There are fires all over
the place. http://alg.umbc.edu/usaq/ says "Wildfires continue to
burn in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana, with smoke
extending from the Pacific Northwest across much of Wyoming, eastern
Utah and Colorado before being steered south across the central plains
and into central Texas."

Do you have masks? They are a really good idea. The cities and
counties should be handing them out to everyone.

Well I'm in Western Washington and there have been air quality
warnings all over the place here West of the Cascades as well. Not
nearly as bad as East of them, but there have been days when it was
pretty thick.

Yup- there were a few days last week where it was definitely
noticeable here in Gig Harbor.
