Slaves were often captured in warfare or were political prisoners. Black slavery replaced white slavery when they became a cheaper option when Africans made a business of warring on their neighbours to sell them into slavery. |

Egyptologists think the pyramids were built by farmers during the annual Inundation. In any case, Egypt had both chattel and debt slavery.
