I got two awesome pies in my fridge:
apple and toll-house-cookie. Can I officially refer to my house as a "pie house" now, or would that be presumptuous? W. Pooh (AKA Winnie P.) |

My sister's appliance store was in the 4000 block of Westheimer, so we would go to the House of Pies late at night. It was a fun place to people watch while you ate a Monte Cristo sandwich and shared a slice of Bayou Goo pie. That place is busy during the holidays, they make thousands of pies and people line up to buy them. Becca |

There is a restaurant here with free slice of pie on Wednesdays. So the
other day I went in at 930 for late breakfast and discovered every chair in the place was occupied by the over 65 club. Quite amazing really-the waitresses were run off their feet. Anyway their featured pie features a candied slice of bacon on top-I love food adventures so I ordered it. It was gross and I laid it aside after the first bite and just ate the pie. The best pies are not so rich that you are sick of it by the end of the slice. My faves are rhubarb cream, key lime, lemon meringue (done right-many aren't), and pumpkin pie. Rarely I will enjoy one of those combination choc/caramel/peanut butter/cheesecake-type pies. I hate warm/hot pie, hate pie ala mode, hate apple pie and cherry pie and strawberry pie, and don't you dare put strawberry jello in my rhubarb pie! :-) |

Strawberrries are not made for pies, and it is a travesty to *******ize a rhubarb pie by adding strawberries to it. I wouldn't say apple pie is horrible, but I cannot understand its overwhelming popularity. Cherry pie OTOH.... a nice fresh sour cherry pie, not sweet cherry, and not made with a canned filling, but a real, fresh sour cherry pie is a gift from the gods. |

We ate out Sunday morning, and we saw the same old men that we always see, they were probably solving the world's problems. Becca |

He's obviously never had a decent apple pie. You don't get them from a store. G. |

Cherry pie is good, so is lemon meringue pie, but a deep dish apple pie is the most; especially served with sharp cheddar cheese. -- Jim Silverton (Potomac, MD) Extraneous "not" in Reply To. |

My order: 1. apricots, peaches, or other stonefruit 2. strawberries, raspberries, other berries 3. pear, apple, or other pomes (if there are any...) 4. "cream" pies like lemon, Boston, etc. |

I only like pies with old fashioned thick crunchy crust. Lard or whatever it takes. I don't like juicy apple. It's got to be well browned and sugar burnt on top. I got a good old great diner type restaurant that makes great pies. Some 5 inches high. Greg |
