Default Lunch 31Oct12

Cheese and garlic pide bread from www.breadd.com.au ,
toasted,
with Duck River butter lathered on,
free range Bruny Island ham,
some local Tassie cheese,
grilled,
then a smear of (Tasmanian) locally produced Tomato Chutney smeared over
the top.

It makes me very 'uncomfortable' eating it, and it'll take me a few hours
to get through it all....... but bloody hell, it's nice!!!

I am glad you are eating good stuff. Too bad it causes you
discomfort.

Thanks Jean. After spending quite some time thinking the rest of my life
was going to be bland, soft foods...... a little discomfort is a small
price to pay for getting 'back on the food wagon' :-)

I'm heading back down to Tassie in a few weeks time, and spending a good
deal of December down there, so I'll be bringing back a whole range of new
stuff I find in my travels down there :-)

My staff are a bit concerned, as I only got back 8 days ago :-)

Ah, you are getting closer to moving there?!

Good news re the eating. Will that discomfort ever improve?

Slowly but surely.... (happy dance, happy dance!!)
It's getting like when I first 'retired' back in '89. I used to go out
and get a job now and then to 'feel like I was contributing to society'.
However, working with civilians was quite an eye opener, and the length
of time between jobs increased, and the length of time in the jobs
decreased :-)

Now... it's the length of time between trips down to our property is
getting shorter, and the length of time I stay down there is getting
longer ;-)

I was catching up on paperwork with my secretary this morning and gave
her a copy of my latest travel plans. All I got was "WTH??!! You're
staying down there for nearly 4 weeks??!!"
I just said "I's OK, no one died last time and it was two weeks, so
we'll double it and see how you go this time." :-)

I'm slowly but surely weaning them into realising that they *can* cope
without me :-)

Seems not...... unless I go in for major surgery to correct the
obstruction. Something I'm not particularly looking forward to, and
something I don't really want to do.

Getting split from breast bone to below the belly button, and having my
insides laid outside while he engineers 'flaps' into the join of my
intestine to my stomach.......... nahhhh, I think I'll just be mindful
of what I eat, and if I forget, I'll soon remember to be mindful :-)

I'm done with surgeries.......... after almost 70, I'd like to have some
time *off* the table!!

Yes, that's something we get to decide. And it does sound like
you are overdue for retirement. That gradual weaning is a good
way to go, from what you have said.
