Default chinese bowl with hole in side wall

bowl, with a hole about 2/3 up the side wall.

For use in a steamer or something?

What is it made of? Ceramic? Clay? Without a picture it's hard to
answer the question.

Noodle bowl. Large end of chopsticks rest on bowl rim, business end of
chopsticks go through hole.
