Default Hot dogs

I'm not a big hot dog fan (must be burned over a flame outdoors), but
hubby wanted hot dogs so he bought some... from Whole Foods. They
cost $7 for 12 ounces... which was 5 dogs. I cooked them on my grill
pan. Result: I liked them and will buy them again. This isn't the
same brand he bought when the store opened (a couple of months ago),
but it's just as good as the first one was. Conclusion: the next time
I want a hot dog, I'll buy it at Whole Foods.

Brand Name: Fork in the Road ("honest dogs with pasture-raised beef")

LOL

You still ate by-products. LOL And that "pasture-raised beef" was the
old bull. LOL

Those fancy-schmancy refrigerated dog-foods they advertise nowadays
have less questionable ingredients. LOL

Bon apetit!

Oh, and.

Pricey when compared to the average hot dog, but if they are really good,
can be worth it. I'll keep an eye out for them.

I'm not sure what the upper limits of hot dog costs would be. I loves
me a hot dog. Recently I found Borak's Jumbo Veal Frankfurters. Lordy
they're good. The next time I saw them they were sitting cheek-by-jowl
with the Boar's Head Beef Frankfurters (Natural Casing) and I bought
the Borak. For me that's saying plenty.

But I'm putting the "fork" hotdogs on my search-and-destroy list.

I will try that sometime, Steve.

The best hotdogs I've ever had (brand not important) are ones cooked on a
stick and held over a campfire. Doesn't matter what wood you use, just dried
sticks from the woods.

I like to hike in a local state park here on cold winter days. Only cold
winter days because it's a combo of woods and swamp...a haven for many water
moccasin snakes in warm weather.

On these winter hiking days, I like to bring along some hotdogs and at some
point, I'll make a small (illegal) campfire and cook them. One time I was
at the shoreline on an extra low tide day. I made a small fire in a shallow
pit on the beach. Once the wood burned down to hot coals, I walked out and
collected about 6-8 oysters and put them on the hot coals. Once they
opened, it was delicious lunch.

I don't think I have seen those here. I usually get Niman Ranch's
Fearless Franks, also at WF. I try not to eat them on a regular
basis, but they are handy to have around.
