I poked around googling for small solar and found this....there's
lots of small solar stuff out there. I bet you could rig something
up from small solar power for the barn cat.

Thanks. There's a huge selection at Northern Tool. I will phone
tomorrow and ask them to help with choosing the correct components for
what I need to do. I was hoping that someone offered a kit but I
couldn't find one anywhere. There are lots of pet heaters, even for
reptiles, but nothing solar powered... I think the pet industry is
missing out on a lot of business. The closest I found were solar
powered birdbath heaters.
