Good morning. I'm not certain that this is the appropriate place for
this post so if someone has a better option, please let me know. The cutting blade on our Foodsaver Professional II is so dull that it no longer cuts the bags. I asked Foodsaver for a part number for this particular blade, but they advised that this part is no longer available. I did find a "hack" for replacing the blade, but I really don't want to work with single-edge razor blades (and the attendant cut fingers and hands). Does anyone have an old Foodsaver Professional II that still has a working cutting blade that they'd be willing to sell to us? My husband does a lot of fishing and hunting (and our friends share their fish and meat with us in exchange for veggies from our abundant garden). Thank you. Mrs. Smith Central Point, Oregon |

Sounds like all you need is a whet stone from the dollar store. Or maybe you have someone in the area that sharpens knives by hand and you can have that person do it. They charge by the inch here, so it shouldn't cost you much. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

Perhaps you could use one of those 'sheet cutters' like this one: http://www.martorusa.com/Snitty-On-C...=19&category=9 Something where you just run it across your bag material and there are no expose blades. Good luck in your quest. nancy |

I've hardly ever used anything else with my small Foodsaver tho' I did get a gadget with a little ceramic cutting wheel. (Even if the cutter is magnetized to stick to a refrigerator, it always seems to disappear.) -- Jim Silverton (Potomac, MD) Extraneous "not" in Reply To. |

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. There is no immediate need
for this particular part so we'll just use scissors for the time being. We will continue to check on eBay, however, especially if any other parts on our Foodsaver stop working. I have the same foodsaver model with the built-in bag cutter and it would be a bummer if the blade gets too dull to cut them. |

I replaced mine today with number 9 blades you can buy from the hardware store. Easy to do and you should have no problems.
