Default garden tomatoes finally turning red

took about 6 weeks, but most the ones picked just before frost are
turning.... I put them in a brown bag but they didn't do much till I put a
couple red store tomatoes in with them.

might go good in cauliflower soup? At least they would add colour...
Though I think I'd prefer the garden tomatoes for salad where you can taste
them more. I really enjoyed the fresh garden tomatoes this year. Took a
few casualties during the squirrel wars, but got enough this year to be
pleased.

speaking of pests, the gutter man said there were a couple places on my
roof/gutters that a raccoon had left presents. And apparently it was a
large raccoon.

2-3 years ago, my tomatoes were hit hard by frost, lost all their
leaves and they were heavily laden with fruit. I left them, thinking
they were a lost cause, but the fruit continued to develop and they
all went a nice red colour, they turned out to be excellent tomatoes
in spite of the frost... and no leaves. I'm still enjoying the tomato
sauce I made from them.

I wondered what would happen if left out. I would think the frost would be
like putting a tomato in a freezer and it breakdown and be kinda mealy when
thawed.

All I can tell you is that mine continued to grow and ripen, I too was
surprised. They were a small variety, something between what we call
here 'cherry' tomatos and a normal full sized tomato. Very tasty, full
of flavour.
