You couldn't fool me. And why would anyone attempt to counterfeit the cheapest of all seafoods? Is this like the scallops/skate wings thing? We haven't done that one for a few years. Should I start that thread all over again? |

They look like the cheapest kind of frozen onion rings to me. -- I take life with a grain of salt, a slice of lemon and a shot of tequila |

You couldn't fool me. And why would > anyone attempt to counterfeit the cheapest > of all seafoods? > The last time (years ago) I had calamari I was out with a group of people. We were attending a business function in Chicago and went to an Italian restaurant. The calamari was battered and deep fried. It's pretty hard to mistake it for anything else when they include the fried tentacles on the plate. One woman had never heard of calamari. She was raised in "the country" as an adult owned/lived on a small farm. Seafood just wasn't something she was regularly exposed to. We ordered a batch as an appetizer while she was in the restroom. She loved it! What is this?! It's squid. She didn't cringe like some people might have; she enjoyed it! (Although come to think of it she might not have objected to pig rectums.) > Is this like the scallops/skate wings thing? > We haven't done that one for a few years. > Should I start that thread all over again? > Oh sure, why not? I haven't heard about that one in ages ![]() Jill |

As a non worldly type I have tasted Calamari and Octopus once each. They put me in to the frame of mind of having a nice platter of small diameter rubber garden hose. I would hate to get the artificial stuff..but then dont see how it get much worse than the Real Mcoy. Correct my thinking here. Thanks. I also fail to appreciate much boiled dough as is the custom of Eyetalians. Pure unhealthy carbs which turn folks into chubby boys and girls while causing diabetes and cancer etc. Sounds like yall may can use my help here..lol.

Yet another no-carb fanatic heard from. Here, eat a pound of deep fried bacon while I think about this. I'm not overweight and I'm not diabetic. Then again, I don't stuff myself with "boiled dough" every day. I don't know where people get the idea everyone does that. Maybe you watch too much television. Shows like 'The Biggest Loser' must really give you a charge. BTW, you do know them "Eyetalians" brought pasta back from China, right? There was this man named Marco Polo... Jill |

They are very intelligent creatures with distinct personalities and they are NICE creatures.....same as eating friendly bottlenose dolphins, imo. Might as well go for human veal....that might even taste better. ;o Gary |
