That seems to be a new trend. I suppose it is for two reasons. They
seem a little less "stuffy" for the younger crowd and are cheaper to
make. With red wine they make some sense, with white, you'd be
warming it up a bit holding it.

We have many different wine glasses, but I've also been know to drink
wine from a paper cup. I'm not a fanatic that a certain wine must have
a certain style glass. I just happen to like the style of some and if
I do, I'll get a pair.

Based on what I heard you probably drink straight out of the bottle(s).

Your shortcomings are already obvious - no need to add any more.

Hey! Give her a little credit. She uses a bendy straw.

Am I the only one that doesn't understand the "Ask them, theyre here"

It's definitely obnoxious, especially since the quote post from "Kalmia"
is apparently a couple of decades old. Kalmia hasn't posted to this
newsgroup in years.

Yep, Bruce started wearing a dress recently. When was the last time
you saw a post from Kalmia, Ed? I'm thinking 10-15 years at least.

But even with a new dress, he's still the same obnoxious,

Yeah, I recall that as well. Perhaps there's a way to filter it out.

Just filter AIOE and Neodome. That takes care of most of the trolls. I
don't see them anymore.

"Ask them, they're here" originally came from the real Bruce.
Now one of the fake Bruces say that about 100 times a day.

Yep! It's entirely possible Kalmia posted about Calphalon cookware
years ago but if you scroll up the post also indicates *I* wrote a reply

I don't see much point in bothering to figure out which is which. The
real one is an intolerable ass and the others are mimicking him well
enough to be equally annoying.

My ancient two qt Farberware plain SS pan is one of my handiest, lives
on my stove... perfect size for the small burner. I don't own any
non-stick coated cookware except for my jumbo Chicago muffin tins that
I use often and a non-stick coated cast iron gingerbread house mold
that I rarely use. The Farberware set came with a one quart pot
that's too small for cooking but works for scooping bird seed.

We grow Swiss Chard that we use the same as spinach... spinach is too
difficult, it attracts sand. Swiss Chard can be used for any spinach
recipe... cut out the center rib and dice for soups. I probably
shouldn't mention it but chard is in fact beets, same plant but
without the bulbous root. Chard is not often sold in the produce
section as it has a very short shelf life... but it's very easy to
grow and then snip how much you like.
.... chard leaves are excellent in salads.

This has to do with time machines and calpalon cookware how?

I remember when I first joined RFC back around 1996-1997, you (Sheldon)
accused me of coveting my brother's Calphalon cookware. LOL He had
bought it at a 'for charity' auction held at his job. IIRC he paid $500
for a set of it. I posted I thought it was a huge waste of money. It
ultimately was.

I would never ever be jealous over a set of cookware. I've been using
Revereware for 40 years. I also have my mother's Revereware that dates
back to the 1950's. My brothers weren't interested in it. I've never
had to replace any of it. I do have some cast iron skillets and small
non-stick skillets but ultimately the old Revereware works for everything.

You don't need to tell me. I can taste it.

Funny, I see chard in the produce section every week when I go to
the grocery store.

Back in the 50's and 60s the best cookware was Revereware and
Farberware. Still use the same Farberware for 55 years now. Still
looks amazingly good too.

I truly don't recall you posting anything about your brother's
cookware. I have one piece of Revereware, a 10" skillet. I have a
few pieces of Farberware and several large pieces of of Piazza
cookware. Since it's just the two of us I don't prepare large meals
anymore. We don't socialize much these days so mostly we eat out with
our few friends, and nothing fancy, typically pizza or Chinese. At
home I typically do an oven or pot roast... a roast is good for 3-4
meals. Mostly we make egg dishes, fritattas are good for a couple of
meals. We subsist mainly on soups, stews, and salads. Tonight we
will share a 12 0z burger on a Kaiser roll. Now we only have the
three house cats; Cali, Mische, and Barny... they
are not into people food, they prefer dried cat food and some canned.
The outside feral cats will eat most anything. Mishe is diabetic so
he gets special food and two shots each day. We've had diabetic cats
before, they are not very difficult to care for. Their insulin shots
are no problem.

Yes, it's a sad isolated life. But still a genuine heroic navy
cook's life.

Maybe a new 50 gal steam kettle would cheer yoose up Popeye.

It has evolved to a form a masturbation for some. Whatever the goal, it

It's a sort of troll thing to do that but a few non-trolls do it at
times. Just use the 'next key' since it's useless drivel. Think about
it, if the person wanted to answer, they will.

I wouldn't expect you to remember. I was new to the group and you were
ragging on me from the get-go. I mentioned cornbread and you started
talking about *corned* bread. I had no idea you were talking about rye
bread. Margaret Suran clued me in.

Along with the Revereware and assored other things I have some heavy
pieces of flame-orange enamel cookware (originally called Bruxelles
Ware, later became Descoware) manufactured by a Belgian company which
was later bought out by Le Creuset. Some time in the 1960's my mother
bought a couple of the large covered pots and a large skillet with a
lid; it has a removeable wooden handle so you can put the skillet into
the oven. Heavy stuff. Julia Child used to endorse it way back when.

I was sorry to hear you only have three house cats now. I've never
given either of my cats "people food". BTW, thanks for the call the
other day and the email about Buffy.

I sincerely doubt Kalmia is going to jump in after all these years.

I can. Real Bruce is my friend and I see all his posts. The others, I
recognise as fake...not so much with you, special princess Jill.

I'm with you there. I have a large collection of Revereware and use it
exclusively. I've tried other cookware but didn't care for it.

My 2 cast iron pans live in my bottom cabinet. They're nothing special
to me.

I'm sure if I was looking for it I could find chard, too. I can
certainly find fresh spinach and plenty of other leafy greens when I
look for them.

LOL My mother's 1950's Revere came with a couple of stainless steel
measuring cups with measurements marked inside. She used to use the
larger one occasionally to pour out pancake batter or waffle batter (I
know, you don't like those things... I'm talking 1965-ish when she was
occasionally making breakfast for Dad, my brothers and me, usually on a
Sunday.) I use the larger measure now to refill the small bird bath on
the patio. The slightly smaller stainless measuring cup I use to pour
fresh water into Buffy's water bowl every day.

I have a couple of ancient small non-stick skillets I use for scrambled
eggs or the occasional omelet. They haven't killed me yet. I rarely
use muffin tins except when I make the occasional batch of oven-ready
Hodgson's Mill bran muffins. I posted the recipe for those not so long ago.

Cast iron, yep. A small skillet used only for small steaks or a
hamburger. A skillet dedicated to (Southern) cornbread. A slightly
larger one I rarely use. Oh, and a cast iron griddle that belonged to
my maternal grandmother. She used it to bake scones. I've used it for
that but rarely.

Time does them in same as people. We lost Jilly a few months ago,
kidney failure, she gave us 19 wonderful years. I think about her
every day, she'll never be forgotten. She's at rest between two of
our favorite long lived trees; a Gingko and an Acer Grisium (paper
bark maple)... Gingkos can live 3,000 years.

I'm glad to hear that Buffy is still doing well... keep giving her the
meds.

Of course I will. I've felt like I was a yo-yo on a string the way her
health has been bouncing up and down.

Nice pic of her enjoying the sun and the fresh air next to the open
patio door:
