Note that when he mentions oven temperatures, they are Celsius!

Officially, Canada uses the metric system, but I don't know anyone who
uses Celsius for cooking. Most ovens are Imperial. Mine is, and it is
less than three months old.

Officially...Celsius. For people over 35 most use Fahrenheit.
The young brainwashed use Celsius but a few are bi-temp (new word).

I have conversion charts on the wall as I prefer Fahrenheit and I curse
that ******* Trudeau for bringing in an official Metric usage law.

I'm old and I don't want to change. Business works in both systems.

They go to Iceland and use the hot springs.

If you do it often enough you can easily do the conversions in your
head. Personally, I'd like to see a change to metric but it would
take generations for a complete change.

I still remember people having a difficult time getting their
Volkswagen serviced aside from a dealer because mechanics did not have
metric tools.

I am well over 30 and I use Fahrenheit for cooking, but Celsius for
weather.

Having lived through the change I can tell you that I prefer Celsius. It
makes more sense for weather. Zero is the freezing point, and there is a
major difference between +1 and -1.

Perhaps, but since Volkswagons were a sort of novel car most owners
preferred to take them to VW dealers or garages that specialized in
them, and those shops would have the metric tools.

I don't know about mechanics in the US, but every mechanic I know up
here seems to be a tool junky. It gives them an excuse to buy more tools.

Well I'm old as well and I now think in celsius for the weather and find it
difficult to interpret Foreignheit. As most of our appliances come from or
probably through the US, they are graduated in F.
I look forward to the day when all recipes are in grams and ml. So much
more accurate and easier to deal with, especially when scaling up or down.

No one would now call me young, so I guess I'd too be 'old' and I would have
to describe myself as being 'bi-temp' but then Australia went metric about
1968 IIRC.
