Default "A Grand Supper"

From "Li'l Hannibal," as transcribed by Carolyn Sherwin bailey.

"There was breakfast strip, and roast turkey, and fried chicken, and mutton and rice, and hominy and sweet potatoes, and peas and beans, and baked apples, and cabbage, and hoecake and hot biscuit, and corn muffins, and butter cakes, and waffles, and maple syrup."

(I sent that list to a certain friend who had clearly never heard of certain Southern foods; he said, jokingly: "I don't think I even want to know what a 'hoecake' is!")

It's from the volume "Up One Flight of Stairs" from the 1920 "My Book House" series for children.

Other sources:

Sometimes they say "bacon" instead of "breakfast strip."
