Default English Pickled Onions

It might interest people in the US that World Market, a chain of
furniture, food and wine importers has English Pickled Onions, in brown
vinegar. They are pretty good, IMHO.

Thanks for the tip. We have a "World Market" a couple of miles up the
highway from our house. I visited it once. I'll buy the English Pickled
Onions on your recommendation. I still have half of a bottle of Marconi
Sport Peppers that are a little bit chewy.
They even sell Bosco! Their food section is exotic and pretty neat.

Sounds like an interesting place. Unfortunately, despite what the
store locator says on their web site, Massachusetts is not close to
Maryland...

I like to go in there and look around but I don't buy a lot of food from
them. I do like their spices and dried shallots. But most of what they
sell can be bought from other places here. They do have great prices
though! And you can shop online.

But it is closer to MD than VA, right?<g> NY is too.

Everything is relative. Beats driving to England when you want some
pickled onions. [and there is free shipping on orders over $150]

True enough the first time, but you need to repeat the exercise so that you
have some always on the go .. iyswim

lolol Wonderful)) Do they taste any different? As for the wee
onions ... aye ... I know what you mean and as a child I had to peel a lot
because I had to hep my mother who pickled them every year. It's easy for
me to buy them here, but if I were somewhere it was difficult, I think I
might make them again I've never tried using regular onions! Do they
turn out ok?

You might be right... but I've never seen pickled onions! I'm still
wanting to make onion marmalade, but it's not required eating here in
the USA so although the idea is very appealing - I still haven't made
any.

Quite right, but I discovered recently that I have a jar of Vidalia
onion marmalade in a cupboard. Still haven't broken into it. What,
exactly, do you eat it with? A big hunk of roast beef is once a year
here, twice at best... is there anything else?
