It isn't funny and she doesn't even know what she is talking about. A
person who has that goes to the Dr. and/or the hospital quite a bit. Aside
from just general checkup things, I've only been there three times in the
past several years. All were related to female things. I won't give the
details. But she's about my age so the very same could be happening to her
soon.

Sorry, Ophelia. I don't think it's funny but I think she has some
serious mental issues. I don't have to explain it again.

I read someone's account of developing early onset Alzheimers and
that was my takeaway ... she was driving to her usual supermarket
and suddenly didn't know the way ... it really stuck with me.

Ok, let us accept you *really* believe that. You have made your diagnosis.
Do you often make fun of people you honestly believe are sick???

As I have said elsewhere, you used to be kind and sympathetic. You have
changed.

It is such a frightening thing. I am reading all I can about it. It is
good to have knowledge. I have so much admiration for Alan and bob
who live with it day to day. There was a question on another group; 'which
would you prefer to go first, mind or body' I said mind, but when you
realise how it affects your family ...

We had a friend in his late 40s who was driving home from a meeting
~30 miles away and suddenly didn't remember anything. He stopped at a
house and told the woman who answered the door: "My name is xxxxx and I
don't know where I am going."

It was a brain tumor. He lived less than 6 months.

Yikes! Imagine that. Either way, it must be so frightening to
the person who knows This is not good.

That happened to the husband of a friend of a friend. The not not
remembering anything. He was driving home from work and went totally the
wrong way, winding up somewhere in South Seattle and not knowing why he was
there. The police eventually found him. He had been sitting there in his
car for the better part of the day. He had also been having crushing
headaches. He too had a brain tumor. But in his case, he is still living.
He's about 55 now.

One of the lucky ones. Gloria and Julie ... do you know if they'd had any
indications before the major attack?

Alan did have headaches for a while prior. And headaches weren't normal for
him.

Noted! I guess someone like me who doesn't get headaches should be wary.

I worked for a wonderful gal a few years ago, and she would get really
bad headaches on occasion. She dropped dead from a brain anurism (sp?)
while cooking Thanksgiving dinner- probably never knew what hit her.

Oh dear I note the headaches are in evidence here too? Not something to

I think it is the severity of the headaches and perhaps the rapid onset that
should be a worry. I did have a severe headache some years ago. The cause
was never found. I have had migraines and more recently I had headaches
that were for sure from stress and lack of sleep. They were annoying but I
wasn't worried because I was pretty sure that I knew the cause.

One of my friends was making pancakes, and her 12 yr old son came
downstairs and found her collapsed on the kitchen floor. He called 911,
they took her to the emergency room, and she had an aneurism.
Fortunately, she survived.

One of my clients had a hysterectomy and she kept telling the nurses
that she had a headache. The doctor examined her and ordered medication
for her headache. She died of an aneurism the next morning, while still
in the hospital. She had 3 children under the age of 8.
