Tonight I made another big pot of bean with bacon soup. I keep saying with
each pot that I make that it is the best ever! Hehe. I made this one with Great Northern beans. They were tender at 50 minutes of cooking. Added a bit more bacon than usual. Some carrots, celery, onions, dries shallots, parsley, summer savory, two bay leaves, lots of black pepper, some sea salt, a jar of green tomatoes from Sur La Table, and a couple of squirts of lemon juice. I am really in love with those dried shallots! I am starting to add them to more and more things. They seem to add a depth to things that onions alone just can not do. And yes, I know that I could buy shallots. And sometimes I do, but they are a PITA to deal with, IMO. I also like using the dried ones because they will help to absorb some of the liquid from whatever I am cooking. And that seems to be a good thing. Also made some tuna salad for daughter. To that I added salt, pepper, sweet relish, celery, green onion, mayo, parsley, summer savory and a little lemon juice. Let it sit for a bit then drained off the extra juice. Sometime later this week, I will start accumulating things for meatloaf. I plan to make a ton of the stuff. I hope I can get to a store that sells the HoMade chili sauce. It is by far my favorite. I don't have a lot of freezer space left but there would be enough to accommodate some meatloaf. Must start stocking up on things for husband when he gets home and must be prepared to not have a paycheck or two. There will likely be a gap between his jobs where there will be no pay. I do have quite a good stock of vegetables, rice, beans, pasta, shelf stable milk and even some cereal. Also some chicken and cooked hamburger patties in the freezer. That will have to carry us through! |

My kitchen isn't quite that eventful, although after making a depressing series of nutritious but tasteless brown bricks, I'm finally starting to figure out how to make decent bread with flour I'm milling myself from different types of grain berries. |

About to make some Yunnanese-style chicken for breakfast. Chicken, vegetables, maybe some fish sauce/prawn paste, chilli, garlic, ginger, and sticky rice.

It's enough for me to have soup for the week. Small servings, very small servings... I use a 28 oun ce soup bowl and usually fill it half way again... of course my soup is an entire meal. Three qts, that's a small pot, a very small pot for bean soup, and Ibet you don't fill it to the brim, bet you only make 2 1/2 qts at most... it's hardly worth cooking less than 8 quarts of soup, especially bean soup. It takes just as long to prepare a large pot of soup as a small pot... and soup freezes well. I'd reheat soup in a three qt pot but I'd never make less than 8 qts of soup, and most times I use my 16 qt pot. |

I am the only one who eats the soup. The mugs I use are 2 cup but they are not quite filled to the top. And soup is usually my entire meal too. I did eat bread with the soup last week because it was a vegetable soup. Although it did have beans in it, it was not as hearty as this soup is. I stand corrected. I looked it up. It's 4.5 quarts. |

What a curious thing to say. You clearly don't know anything about me. I, on the other hand, know a bit about the people I'm calling fat. Don't know shit about you. I guess I could call you fat. Is that the game we're playing? Sounds boring. |
