Default Lovely Lunch - Steamer (Restaurant)

This place has been around since well before my parents first built the
house in this area. An oyster and steak house. Here's the lunch menu:

Anyway, we had lunch there yesterday. I had Shrimp and Grits. It's a
coastal Southern classic. But Steamer's Shrimp and Grits is a little
different. Usually the dish is shrimp and shrimp gravy spooned over a
bowl of cheese grits. Steamer makes griddle cakes instead and spoons
the shrimp/sauce over a couple of slices in a shallow bowl. Quite tasty!

John had the special of the day, a meatloaf sandwich.

If you're ever in the Beaufort area Steamer on Lady's Island is worth a
look. It's a bit of a dive but the food is consistently good. Cheerful
service, too.

Jill
