Default I tried Posole today.

We got lucky and were able to get into that taqueria. The posole came in a
huge bowl. There were huge chunks of pork in broth and some hominy. Seemed
to be more pork than hominy. Came with three folded corn tortillas that had
a little bit of filling. Seemed to be potato? Not sure. That's what they
tasted like. And there was a dish of what I think was oregano, some sort of
reddish powder, chopped jalapenos and chopped onion. I took too many of the
jalapenos! The posole in and of itself was quite spicy. And the jalapenos
were HOT! I only ate a few bites. Not for me. I think the taste of the
pork is what put me off. My mom did like it but she wouldn't eat the pork
either. We all liked whatever the little tortilla things were but I only
had a taste because there were enough carbs in the rest of my meal.

Most of the food that this place serves is spicy. The refried beans are
not. Excellent meal! Daughter and I had the tacos. They are street style
but very tiny. My mom had the gorditas like last time but didn't like them
as well. I think this is because she had them leave so much off of them
that all she had in there was chicken, cheese and cilantro.

It was not tripe. That is menudo. I do love hominy but I dislike pork,
unless it is very crisply cooked bacon. But my mom urged me to try it,
thinking I would like it. She wanted to try it too so we ordered it. It
just had too much of a pork flavor for me and really neither of us were
expecting that much pork! I assumed there would be pork broth and small
bits of pork. But this was a bowl with huge pork chunks and just a little
hominy. Would be good for a person who likes spicy meat.

Never tried it and doubt that I ever would. Husband did buy me a mammoth
can of the stuff. He thought it was beans.
