Hopefully, they will be better than before the shutdown. The old
Twinkies had degraded to the point where the strawberry and banana Twinkies were barely dicernable from the regular Twinkies, which are no great treat. nb |

They taste like vegetable oil and sugar. The only reason people think the cupcakes are chocolate is because they are brown. Twinkies have some vague chemical taste. Little Debbie are cheaper and better, but still not as good as they used to be. |

The Orange Hostess cupcakes are as rare as kangaroos around here. I buy them when they somehow fall of the production line and accidentally get shipped to a store. They're like the holy grail of snack cakes. > > > > > > > To reply by email, lose the Ks... > |

Have not had one since I was a kid and didn't like them then. I did try one Little Debbie thing after my friend told me how addictively good they were. It was a chocolate peanut butter bar. Not good to me at all! Tasted like chemicals and fat. Icky fat. |

Ring Dings are chocolate cake with undefinable white cream filling, covered in chocolate, puck shaped. Yodels are the same only they are rolled like Swiss Rolls. nancy |

It's good to know that people still believe in manufacturing snack cakes in this jaded, health conscientious world. It's possible that there will never be a perfect time to eat it. I left it on the front seat of my truck and now I'm not sure where it's at. :-) |

Frosting as we all know, is shortening and sugar. OTOH, Dream Whip frosting is probably oil and sugar and emulsifiers and stabilizers. I like it more than regular frosting because it has more air in it. It might be great in a Twinkie but again, it's lacks shelf-life stability. |

I can live without Twinkies-I was always a Susie Q fan. The Christmas
before they went bankrupt my mom introduced me to Hostess Fruitcake. It was phenomenol. Next year I tried many stores and no one was selling any. That's the one I miss. I don't like most fruitcakes. I think theirs was more solid/less bread, had more nuts, and was stickier than most. We liked it cold out of the fridge. Sliced like hard cheese. |

It's a three and a half pound giant that's chock full of pineapples, cherries, and pecans. I still got half of one in the back of my refrigerator. At this rate, I might finish it by September of this year. It's a solid mass and a little gooey - you'll either love it or think it's disgusting. |
