Bloomyburg must be on a diet...now he's gonna try to make portions
smaller because misery loves company...retarded. yep as the rest of the polititions, he's trying out his dictatorship shoes... Go ahead bloomy...see how that works for ya...ny'ers aren't gonna cooperate well...j/s. We are resilient as they come...we won't listen. ================================================== = Smaller bagels? Smaller portions of cottage cheese? Smaller jars of gefilte fish? Less chopped liver? Less schmaltz (melted chicken fat) to sploosh all over everything? Oy gevault ! I can hear the yenta's kvetching already. |

I am very, very afraid that he is going to use his billions to run for
President in 2016 in order to try out his neurotic brand of Progressivism on a national stage, because people are just stupid and he and he alone knows how much you should eat, and what you should eat, and what kind of house you should live in, and where you should be able to live, and how much money you should be able to have. Never mind that these rules don't apply to him and his one percent ilk. |

I'm a liberal and even I think he's full of crap. He is consistent, though. First he decided what the *correct* size drink for you was, and then he started working on your portion size. I'm the first to agree that we need to eat less, and eat better, and I'm not going to tell anybody that washing down your 4,000 calorie lunch with half a gallon of Cherry Coke is a good idea. But having some stupid lout of a politician personally legislating the details of your lunch for you is an infinitely worse idea. |

Just way too many rules and regulations for me and my daughter. I hated what he did to the school system there. Those poor kids! They were not allowed to learn at their own pace. Anyone who was too slow had damned well better find a way to pick up the pace! And anyone who worked too quickly was punished. My daughter was required to bring home a tape. Yes, a tape, even though most everyone had gone to CDs then. I actually had to purchase a tape player so she could do her homework. This was in Kindergarten. She was required to listed to the tape until it told her to stop. The tape slowly read this stupid story. She was then to pick up the book and read it aloud slowly. She had to do this paragraph by paragraph at the pace that the tape told her to use. She was bored out of her tree! She could already read and pretty well at that point. I think that whole thing is what put her off of reading today. She hates it! I finally fast forwarded the stupid tape, took it out and said she was done. Then each night after that, I just did the same. Not only did I have to sign a paper that she did the assignment, but she had to bring in the tape, showing the teacher that she had listened to it. I had bought her the Dick and Jane series of books prior to her going into Kindergarten. Those are what I learned to read with. She quickly whipped through those and could pretty much read anything. So she didn't need this stupid system. Bloomberg also required all students to spend an extra hour in school one day each week to improve their reading skills. And because the other kids apparently were doing his pace of things, they actually couldn't read yet. So she said they just kept them there and they had to pretend to be reading. Because he sent out people to assess them and make sure they were doing what he said. The man is a damned control freak! |

But having some stupid lout of a > politician personally legislating the details of your lunch for you is > an infinitely worse idea That actually wasn't first. I don't know when he took office but we were there just after 9/11 and he was controlling the school system then. After that he required all restaurants to list the nutritional breakdown of their foods. That isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think he also required them to list ingredients which is a nice thing to know if you have food intolerances or allergies. And he banned trans-fats. But I think he went too far. Way too far. We have rules here. People are very green here. They don't necessarily tell you what to eat but what you can put the food in if it is takeout of if you are buying it at the store...they want you to bring your own bags... And how to dispose of your food scraps at home. You have to compost in one way or another. If you don't have a compost heap you have to purchase Bio-bags and put the scraps in with your yard waste. I do get annoyed with this at times. When I was a kid we put all sorts of food scraps down the toilet. We had no disposal. And for a time we had no sewer. We had septic. Probably shouldn't have been putting food there then! Whatever wouldn't flush went into the trash, perhaps being wrapped in some way. I think I have parents who were OCD in some ways. Gum had to be wrapped in a tissue. Banana peels had to be in a waxed paper bag because banana peels stink. Once in a great while, my mom would buy a cantaloupe. And because she couldn't stand the smell of them, those had rules of disposal. Reminded me of that episode on SNL where they did the anal retentive chef. |

My daughter's > first teacher was not pleased! I could too. I don't remember the teacher being upset by it but it was frustrating to me. When we moved here, I was in the second grade. I went to the library and chose books that I wanted to read. The librarian said they were above my level. They were books written for adults. I told her that I could read them. She told me to come the next day after school and prove it to her. I did. The next year, she gave me a job in the library. They were always having to find jobs for me to do. I whipped through my work so quickly that school was insanely boring. I worked in the cafeteria and office as well and was teacher's aid for various classes. |

Exactly. I'm not complaining about his intentions, so much as his method. |

Progressives want to *FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGE AMERICA* even though there is nothing fundamentally wrong with America. What is wrong is the Progressivism that has crept into Society. Reverse that trend and we'd be doing OK with sensible needed changes taking place on a reasonable time frame rather than making stupid changes towards Socialism that isn't needed at all. These days Progressivism can be described as a change to Socialism. |
