Tara, I was happy to see this come back. It is interesting to see where
your food is coming from, especially if you are feeding children. Right
now, I have milk from two different stores, cottage cheese, yogurt and
cream cheese, but none of these codes work. I hope it does for everyone
else.

They all work for me, even Trader Joe's. Do you know the prefix number
for the local dairies in your area?

I hadn't thought about that site in quite a while either, so I grabbed
my quart of Trader Joe's milk and proceeded to not figure out where it
came from because their code doesn't fit the example (no hyphens). It
was the only set of numbers that could possibly be the code, so I
played with them until I got a hit and it is from Berkeley Farms.

I have zero dairies in my county and I know what the reality is. Raw
milk was trucked in from elsewhere and processed at the Berkeley Farms
facility in Hayward.

I don't need a code to tell me. Our milk comes from local grassfed
cows and is bottled in the dairy a ten minute walk from here.

Mine comes showing as being from Lawrenceville, Georgia. The name that
comes up is Publix Supermarkets, Inc. Is it possible they own a dairy?

Several chains I have bought from have their own dairies:

Publix has three Dairy Processing facilities within Publix
Manufacturing: Lakeland, FL, operating since 1980; Deerfield Beach,
FL, since 1988; and Dacula, GA, since 1995.

The facilities employ approximately 575 associates and are certified
Kosher by the Orthodox Union (OU). Combined, the facilities process
and manufacture milk, flavored milk, eggnog, orange juice, grapefruit
juice, fruit drinks, lemonade, packaged ice, drinking and spring
water, carbonated beverages, ice cream, and cultured products such as
yogurt, sour cream, and cottage cheese. Each facility also blow molds
½ gallon and gallon HDPE bottles.

The Publix Dairies produce approximately 1.7 billion pounds of product
annually for sale in our retail stores as well as to external
customers.

Very possible. The relatively small chain here in western NC owns it
own dairy. That is about 120 miles from here.

I didn't enter my email address anywhere on that site, just the dairy
code.

No. Jes tired of email spam. I don't get any, anymore, no doubt cuz
I don't register for every tom/dick/harry website that wants my addy.
And no, I don't use an email filter. Why do you think the NY Times
demands yer email? Cuz they're gonna wish you happy birthday and send
you greetings? No! It's cuz they sell addy lists to spammers! Yes!
For MONEY!! (gasp) duh.

Filters are great things, so are pop-up blockers. You should try it
sometime. Oh, and there are sites you can visit that you don't have to
register for/subscribe to. I couldn't tell you about the NY Times.

The Do Not Call List is getting a real workout from me lately. Filling
out complaint forms only takes a minute but it takes a while for the
report to be processed. I don't attribute the calls to ordering things
online or looking up things on a web site. It's still those damn
auto-dialers. I do NOT answer the phone unless I see who is calling.

Same here, Tara. He probably encountered an unrelated pop-up.

no, it is right there on the web page - looking for comments. It is not
needed to get the dairy results.

Ha! Nevah! Using a better email server works too, but he likes
complaining (about things he can fix easily) too much to do that.

The NYT is great. No spam that I can figure out is generated by it.
I'm not a NYT reader, so I never use up my monthly allotment of
freebies and I'm able to view NYT links that are posted.

I get my milk from Price Rite of all places. They actually label in
English where the milk comes from and is processed.

My last carton of milk was processed by the Prairie Farms dairy out on
North Wells street. I'm not so sure about the pasteurized process
individually wrapped orange cheese food thingies I picked up at Kroger
the other day.
