Default Good crackers

My daughter left me a bag of crackers that I love.
http://drkracker.com/our-products/cu...le-oat-crunch/

And here's a funny. I like them plain but I also like them with a dollop of
peanut butter. Notice under the ingredients list is this disclaimer: "MADE
IN A PEANUT FREE BAKERY" heheh :-D

I haven't tried this yet but I'll bet they would also be good with a thin
slice of sharp cheddar cheese on top. Apple and sharp cheddar is a good
combination.

I did the internet search this morning and see that "Whole Foods" and "The
Fresh Market" sells them. Both of those stores are only a mile away so I'll
make a run and buy a bag or two this weekend. I see that Walmart also sells
them.

I love apple with cheese. I also eat cheese with apple pie (a Yorkshire
thing) and I especially love cheese with fruit cake

The first time I ever heard about putting sharp cheddar on an apple pie was
about 2 years ago. At first I thought that was a very strange suggestion.
Then I realized that I've always liked the snack of a good cracker topped
with a slice of apple and cheddar cheese.

I do the apple pie thing now too. I usually grate some on top.

As you've discovered, there's nothing strange about it. Fruit and
cheese platters are good for cocktail parties.

wha???? My once and future father-in-law, in 1966, introduced me to
the phrase;
"Apple pie without some cheese, is like a hug without a squeeze."

I didn't share his taste until a few years ago-- but always liked the
saying.

He was born and lived in rural NY 1910ish to 1980ish.

You don't, Jill, but I think I'm much worse about that. hahaha

Growing up, I spent some time in the 50's in Leeds, Yorkshire and I
recall apple pie with cheese (almost certainly cheddar, there wasn't
much else apart from Swiss processed cheese.)

yes, cheddar

I get out more than you think. I knew about apple pie and cheese when I
was about 6 (in 1966). Seems to me McD's (used to?) offer their apple
turnovers with cheddar or some faux version of it.

And there *is* no place like home. Really.

Most of the food ideas in the US came from somewhere else. Except for
corn and tomatoes.

Oh I am sure that isn't true! You can grow stuff unknown here ... but ...
not tomatoes I think ... hey they grow sweetcorn here too. We call it corn
on the cob to differentiate it from 'corn' which is in fact wheat Sort
that one out

Fruit and cheese taste good together, but I do not want cheese on my
apple pie, I would rather have ice cream. :-P

Actually just the opposite... most of the world's more interesting
foods are from the Americas.

There's not much that DOESN'T go well with cheese.

Salty cheeses like good Feta or goat cheese are delicious
with sweet grapes or even bananas.

My current/new favorite cheese is Manchego.

I don't consider fehta cheese, it's like eating spackle. When I have
a Greek salad I tell them to omit the fehta and replace it with extra
olives. I like several cheeses but if I had to choose one favorite
it'd be Jarlsberg.
