I think you've got the common ones covered. Have you heard
of a book called Eating the Alphabet? Maybe it can give you
other ideas.

No, I hadn't; thank you. The one that helped me related foods to
color talked about the rainbow of colors available in everyday
foods. I'll have to ask our librarian for it's title.

Wow! You've got to have great little specialty markets available to you.
My stores carry the standard Alphabet Book stuff--you know--A is for Apple,
B is for Beet.

That reminds me; isn't there a type of punch called "Purple Jesus"?

The mind boggles at the potential for discussion.
I bet the kids would remember it ;-)

Purple yams
Black carrots (which are really purple)
Various berries

There are varieties of Taro that are purple or have purple veins.

I wouldn't call it a specialty market but I do like the variety
available on an everyday-type basis. The quality is also quite nice
for most things with pricing being better than their larger,
more-box-like competitors.

Not with the Purple Jesuses I've sampled... <G> You are taken into
a blissful state of forgetfulness.

Ranger -

I'm impressed that kids knew about purple potatoes.
It sounds like you're having a purple food party. Great idea.

Let us know if you put pictures up somewhere.
