Yep. Every few months I get this cockamamie notion that I want some White
Castles. Those are tiny little hamburgers or cheeseburgers that are steamed
in their buns. Very little meat to them and they have a few wilted chopped
onions. We do not have the fast food place here so I can only get the
frozen ones. I then attempt to eat them and say to myself... Why did I do
this again? Now I could see it if they were cheap. But they're not really.
Except for the few times I've been able to use a coupon for them. They're
not exactly expensive either. But what they are not, is good! Now why I
keep thinking I want them, I'll never know.

Oh and the other day I ate probably one of the most tasteless things ever!
They are snack sticks intended for kids. Actually they are spelled Snack
Stix. Here's the website.

I figured that they would be good because people told me that the
uncrustables were good. But nope! Whatever the "bread" portion is, it's
not really bread. It's more like pie crust. Really *bad* pie crust. Like
that kind that I make. Tough and unpleasant. And the only real taste that
you get from them is sickly sweet. I got the strawberry ones. They don't
taste of strawberry or peanut butter! I thought they would be good for a
quick snack on my way out the door on those days when my meal would be
delayed. But, nope. I couldn't finish the one I defrosted. Not beyond one
bite. Not good at all.

My meatloaf stays rather soft, perhaps because I put so many vegetables in
them. So they are really nothing like the meatballs I have had. I should
add that I have never made a successful meatball except for those porcupine
ones. My first attempt was with ground turkey. We could have played tennis
with them. The next time I used coconut flour with the ground beef. The
end result was tasty but they wouldn't stay in the ball shape.

As stated, I seem to have extreme TIAD but it works for me. Because I like
just about everything, I do have more choices of food than others here,
especially Julie.

I liked all the school lunches when I was growing up. I even like most
frozen dinners...even the cheapest ones. Sometimes it's nice to heat up a
quick dinner in 5 minutes in the microwave vs cooking a slightly better
version and spending an hour to do it.

When I was raising my daughter here I always cooked homemade meals every
night. I didn't want to cheat her by using the frozen premade. But now that
she is married and gone, I'm happy with the quick cheap meals often.

I DO cook good stuff when I get time but I have no problem with the quick
and easy occasionally.

I stopped by the grocery store this morning and in honor of "sf" I bought a
Banquet Salisbury Steak frozen dinner. heheh I do like them. Salisbury
steak in gravy with mashed potatoes and corn. It's a nice quicky meal and
only $1.00. Add two slices of fresh buttered bread for a feast.

When we lived on Cape Cod, I would sometimes resort to the Mexican type
frozen dinners. They weren't very good but then neither was the Mexican
food we could get there. I couldn't even make much in the way of good
Mexican food at home because the ingredients weren't available to me

Pan-fried beef patty (with a little onion, egg, and breadcrumbs mixed
in), smothered in a brown mushroom gravy. The gravy is like condensed
Cream of Mushroom soup diluted with beef broth.

Or something very close to that :-)

It's basically a hamburger patty with bread crumbs and milk or egg in it.
Usually made into an oval shaped patty and served with gravy over it. Did
have it in a restaurant once with no filler. They served it with quickly
sautéed green pepper and onion on top.

We have been married 7 years and George makes delicious home made
meatballs, he must have purchased store bought meatballs in another
life. ;-)

You're not really familiar with Julie are you?

As for my "leaden rhetoric", whatever makes you feel superior, chief! After all, it is usenet. I know I save my best prose for this dump. Homo.

I am relatively new to this group, yes.

Honestly it begs imagination to even consider that you might have some
"best prose" in you.

James Joyce you're not.

Then you'd best not comment on Julie's posts or the replies to them. She's pretty universally reviled. As you will be soon. Unexpressed thoughts - check into the concept.

Safe harbor? WTF? I've been on this newsgroup for a very long time.
Some of the people you are talking about haven't managed or even
attemped to "kill" this newsgroup. You don't like the posters?
Killfile them. What you're doing is instigating. This ng has done
pretty well for decades without your playing cybercop.

You want safe? Go to a moderated forum. Flee to Facebook.

You don't get it, do you? It's only your opinion that they blew up some
other newsgroup(s). alt-kooks, really? Who gives a rats ass? Fast
food newsgroup. Uh huh.

Killfiles are easy and people with backbone will drive off trolls by
simply ingnoring them. Harping on and on about it/them doesn't stop it.
I had hoped you were one of the smarter ones.

I agree.

The use it like bin Laden did Afghanistan.

> You don't like the posters?

I like their respective 'talents wrt to bbq and food photography.

I think it'd be peachy if they stuck to that.

> Killfile them.

I've never been much on the head in sand method.

> What you're doing is instigating.

Actually Marty followed ME over here from afb and initiated, not the
other way round.

Sycophantic Spin was all too happy to join in.

And some others have died for the ministrations of Spin and Marty.

It's funny you mention that, give FB has almost administered the death
knell to usenet.

For a while the moderated yahoo groups seemed to be the replacement, but
I think they've tapered off a bit too.

If you harbor group-killers you as much as legitimize their actions.

There's no way I see you as intending to do that given your posts.

No, it's a proven fact.

Yes, they used the trolls from the former to blot out the latter, really.

So the basic question is, why are you still replying to them?

No killfile?

Or you find value in what they do?

They may be expected but responses are not necessarily forthcoming!

You need to understand that bullying everyone will not accomplish what you
are trying to achieve. You are just alienating the posters here. I will
leave you to think about that.

YOU ARE NOT HELPING! (yes, I know it's rude to shout, I'm not some
friggin newbie). Please just STFU about them.

OB Food: Anyone got a good recipe for cream of broccoli soup? It's been
a while since I made any.

I've been hearing the death knell of usenet since the 90's. So sorry
we're still here! I bid you adieu. You've just joined the bozos on
