Chipotle's GMO ingredients:
The popular burrito chain Chipotle Mexican Grill is widely considered a healthy place to eat, and is known for promoting local produce and offering calorie counts on its menus. But Chipotle has revealed that genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are present in 12 of the 24 ingredients it lists on the company's website. According to The Huffington Post, GMOs can be found in all tortillas, rice and all of the varieties of meat, except pork carnitas.. To its credit, Chipotle is the only fast-food chain that's identifying GMOs (though it's only on their website, not on store menus). Just so's you knows. |

I wish more restaurants would fess up like that. Maybe a chink could be kicked into Monsanto's armor if enough restaurants did that and the general public started requesting organic ingredients. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

They have over expanded and will implode soon. Chipotle's shops average 2.1 million$/year in revenues. Qdoba's make 1/2 that and they are closing some restaurants. Chipotle has nothing but increasing market share ahead. They have 1,447 units to Qdoba's 647. Implode soon? I very seriously doubt it. Subway has 25,000 US shops and opened 1,200 in 2012 alone. Lots of room for growth yet. |

I can and do eat "healthy there" - all it involves is eliminating the superfluous sat. fats like cheese and sour cream. A chicken burrito with black beans, rice, corn salsa and lettuce comes in at 6 grams of sat. fat. Not an unhealthy reading at all. I can do just as well at Subway by ordering a turkey breast sub and eliminating the cheese and squeeze bottle sauce. And really, who are you to speak for "most people"? |

The sign outside says it's a "tienda y taqueria". It's a Mexican grocery store, not a true taqueria. They probably do some cooking but there's sure no counter where people line up to buy burritos or tamales. No place to sit and eat, either. I buy cheeses there on rare occasions. Sometimes a can or two of menudo. No one in the place speaks English. GMO ingredients aside, the nearest Chipotle Mexican Grill is in north Charleston. I'll sure as heck never have a reason to find out if it's good, bad or indifferent. Jill |

There is at least one well known investor / analyst that has been quoted in news pieces on CNN and elsewhere. I don't recall the name, but you could probably dig up those articles. |

I think Chipotle has a bright future even if they don't make it to 25,000 shops like Subway has. These are the kind of places I'll choose for a low fat road meal when I'm traveling, and I appreciate the fact I have something other than grease pits out there to frequent. |

Don't shortchange yourself, a properly arranged burrito or taco from Chipotle features good, fresh ingredients and you can control the heat by your choice of salsa. It may not be authentic Mexican, but just as Chinese food was Americanized into something we all are used to it's a sound product with a lot more taste than your everyday burger. |

They put in a new Subway near the Whole Foods in Lynnwood. I commented once again to daughter that nobody was in there. She said, yeah and she had never seen an employee in there either. Not sure where the employee is. Surely there is only one and he/she probably fell asleep out of boredom! We have gone by there many times around dinner and lunch time and...nobody! There is another one near her dance studio and although we do see people in there sometimes, they are not very busy. Often I see the employees standing by the front glass windows, looking out as if they are searching for customers. I have heard that there are issues with at least one of the employees in there and for that reason, most of the people from the dance studio won't eat there. But their sandwiches are not appealing to me. If we want a purchased sandwich, we go next door to Albertsons. They have one kind that they sell on really good whole wheat bread and it has quality ingredients. I don't think they make it there. But it's $4.99 and contains a lot more meat, better meat and cheese and it's organic. |

I guess it's fair to ding them a bit on the quality of the cold cuts, but overall I get a pretty good value for what I pay. |

From what I've read the worst Chipotle has done is inadequate screening of green cards. Maybe it's more than that, but I've not read that so far. |

Not me. Can't remember the last time I ate in a Subway. Would not try Chipotle and made the mistake of trying Qdoba. Never again! I don't make it a point to eat low fat but my diet overall, is. So much so that dieticians used to tell me that I had to add fat to it. I don't necessarily think that low fat is the way to go unless you have some specific medical condition that warrants it. I just happen to prefer the more plain, whole foods. Like vegetables. And those have little to no fat. When we travel, I always have cans of beans with me. I'd sooner open a can of green beans, a can of kidney beans and to round out the meal, maybe a little applesauce or canned pears before I'd eat that stuff. Of course I would rather find a farm stand or grocery and get some nice raw veggies but that's not always an option. |

The grocery stores didn't even have the ingredients to make the authentic stuff. You could find maybe two kinds of tortillas, the crisp taco shells, canned beans, salsa, that was about it. They did sell Portugese food ingredients there and some of those were similar enough that I could get my fix. |

My husband loves it but...he also doesn't like most Mexican food. He does like the taqueria stuff but doesn't usually like the other places that I like. I think Chevy's salsa is weird tasting and I've no clue what that bad tasting corn lump is that they put on the plates. The one hear went out of business years ago. |

It might but... I am not a big meat eater and none of their meat appeals to me. Not a fan of black beans in a burrito or rice either. Or eating a burrito out of hand. To me, burritos like that really don't have much flavor. I much prefer the wet ones. The bowls don't look appealing either. I could easily make something like that at home and I am sure it would taste better. Would have brown rice too! Have tried the bowls at Taco Del Mar and they were just meh. I just looed at their menu and really the only thing I would eat from there is the pinto beans. I can get a can of pinto beans, drain and eat and it would be cheaper and just as satisfying. I don't really have any dirt on them. Just saw the 7-11 thing on the news the other night. |

I'm sure *you* might like them because you like to eat burrtios out of hand. I don't. |
