DOH! Yep, definitely non-PC and mega inflamatory.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golliwogg

And here folks think Sambo's is a showstopper. Whew, that's Sambo's,
Uncle Ben, Aunt Jemima, and a black lawn jockey all rolled in
one and writ large!

Yeah. No doubt Jack Sprat's wife would be all in yer face with a
horde of overweight girdle burning NAAFA crazies chanting and gobbling
cheesy-poofs in the background. Don't forget the tree huggers riding
Goldilocks outta town on a rail for harrassing and abusing native
wildlife (bears) and the Gray Panthers rallying against The Wolf for
his discriminatory eating habits, which tend to target helpless little
'ol grannies.

This is the first time I've heard of a Golliwogg, yet wiki says it was
in the United States until the '70s? I think not.

We just went to the first of the dance recitals today. Angela's group was
in this one, minus her. For their jazz dance they were supposed to be
Barbies. I suppose you would have had to see the dance or at least have
heard the song for it to make sense. I can't remember the name of the song.
But they all moved somewhat robotically throughout.

That wouldn't happen with me but if it did, I would be offended.

Humpty Dumpty is, according to the BBC.

I don't see which is better, a golliwog or a Barbie doll. When you take
away their real purpose (a cuddly toy and a child's dressing up doll) they
are both pretty ridiculous.

Anyway, I am out of this thread. It would be nice to get back to normal -
whatever that is around these parts

Yep. At least I had blackboards when I was in school... running my
nails down the board wasn't particularly well received, but I sure
enjoyed the reactions from my classmates regardless <G>.
