Default Pie filling in cake?

This is "Rump Dump Cake" from "The Treasury of White Trash Cooking."

My question is, WHICH pie filling would go well with crushed pineapple? Clearly not chocolate - or apple, I'm guessing. But what do I know. (Anyway, the only way I'd make something like this if I had about ten non-fussy people to share it with!)

1 can pie filling (any kind)
1 can crushed pineapple
1 box yellow cake mix, mixed
2 sticks butter (melted)
1 cup coconut
1 cup chopped pecans

(not verbatim) "Pour into a Bundt pan in the above order. Bake at 350F for an hour."

That would more likely be my last choice than my first to go with
crushed pineapple. My first choice would be lemon, and I would rather
make that than open a can. And... if I was making it, I would probably
substitute orange for lemon. I used to love orange pineapple ice cream.
It was a great combination.

Pineapple upsidedown cake w/chocolate cake... call it a Hoboken...
pineapple soda with chocolate ice cream is a Hoboken.

Actually they are incorrect about a Float, a Float is a malted with a
scoop of ice cream on top.

Cherry

Tara
Double dittos on the Cherry. That is the best choice for mixing with Pineapple. My little bride won a ribbon at a cookoff one time using the same recipe. She beat some real exotic creations. She calls it cherry dump cake. Also works in a Dutch Oven for any outdoorsy boyscout types. Not currently envisioning many other canned choices which would marry the flavors very well.

She is right, the original recipe was Cherry pie filling, and you used a
9x13 pan.

Yes, I just noticed the recipe in the original post called for a bundt
pan. This dish will not hold its shape in a bundt pan. It's more like a
fruit crisp or cobbler.
