Default Pomegranate kernels recalled

So far over a dozen states are reporting this recall individually. It
appears to apply to the same packager/brand.

I bet this turns out to have a connection to those frozen mixed
berries that were recalled because they had contaminated pomegranate
seeds.

I thought of that too. I can't imagine what can be done about it
other than just not buying them from Turkey. I mean, how will health
inspectors oversee conditions in Turkey?

This was an avoidable situation. Food processors need to be better
about testing shipments for bacteria before processing and
distribution. Sure there was a screw up in Turkey, but the food
processors are still responsible for what they sell us and the buck
stops with them. This is what happens when business is conducted with
best price, not best quality and the health of consumers in mind. To
link in with another thread, I will call it the "Walmart Effect".

But then I've shopped for groceries for decades at Walmart. Not poisoned
yet AFAIK. But I avoid stuff like packaged processed fruit, bean sprouts,
bags of salad stuff, and suchlike.

You obviously don't get out much... must be difficult for you to get
about with having your massive cellulite ass weighing you down.

No stupidmarket sells fresh high quality produce except in their
frozen foods department. I've never experienced any stupidmarket that
consistantly sells any better produce than another... with
supermarkets it's all shipped in from distant warehouses. I seriously
doubt any store's produce department employees have ever harvested a
crop except by opening a crate that was packed weeks ago. People who
bash the big box stores are those blinded by envy.
