I can't even FIND them in my neck of the woods. What's a decent substitute?

I can find them, but what I find isn't very good. Smoked sausage
(kielbasa) is used commonly as a substitute. I won't say it's the
same, but it's a substitute. I don't see why linguiça or longaniza
wouldn't work just as well and they would probably taste better too.

The linquica I can find is fatty and awful tasting. It's on my never-again list.

Chaurice. Probably also impossible for you to find. Ooops!

Really? That sounds like the commercial andouille I find around here.
Such is life in the good ole US of A. Found a promising looking
andouille at an Italian deli (of all places) today and bought a piece.
Hoping it works out.

I've never seen that in living person. Maybe someday I'll be able to
find it.

Any kind of decent tasting smoked sausage can be subbed out just fine.

That's not what it should taste like.

Find a deli.
