Agree. I never ever liked Oreos. Did not mind Hydrox although they were
never a favorite. But Oreos and pretty much all of the other sandwich
cookies lost me when they changed the formula for the filling. It became
like sweet Crisco. Ick!

Watermelon sounds like a hoot. I like the mint and lemon Oreos. They've been on sale so I've been buying them - a lot.

My favorite factory cookie is Mother's Peanut Butter Gauchos. Damn
that's tasty. I gotta go get me some.

I used to like Peak Freens. Don't know if they are even made any more.
Some of the Pepperidge Farms stuff but only some. And I still like Nutter
Butter.

I use crushed Nutter Butter cookies for my "Reese's Pieces Cheese
Cake" crust, but I don't particularly like them as a cookie.

My favorite cookies are the sesame seed cookies from a real Italian
bakery... Italian pignoli cookies are good too... a close runner-up
are the almond cookies from a Brooklyn Chinese restaurant.

Yup, Hydrox was always hands down my favorite. They just didn't know how to market.

Yep, I used to love Hydrox, never cared that much for Oreo's at all. I think
a name change would have been good for Hydrox.

Hydrox sounds like a toilet cleaner.

Never heard of Peak Freens - will research that one. Nutter Butter in
it's two forms is great. One of these days, I'll have to figure out
which one is the best.

I guess they didn't have focus groups back when they picked that name.

Peak Freens are English style biscuits that came in a variety of
flavours. They had Nice biscuits, Bourbon Creams, Digestive, Shortcake,
Ginger Crisps, Fruit Creams and various assorted types. They used to be
very good and I remember that they were produced not car from where my
grandmother lived in Toronto. About 10 years ago they went rapidly
downhill. I was going to write and complain about them but when I
search online for an address I discovered they had been bought out by
Kraft. That explained the problem/ I didn't bother writing. I just
stopped buying them.

Thanks for the info. Those cookies must have been located in that funny
part of the cookie aisle with the imported stuff. Will have a look-see.
Maybe it'll be by the mac n' cheese. :-)

I was in a store yesterday where they sold Oreos and red bean paste
cooked in a waffle shaped like a fish. Abomination? You bet! It might
have been tasty but I wasn't game enough to have a go at it. Taiyaki is
your standard bean-filled fish-shaped snack but putting an Oreo in it
messed up it's DNA.

The first Peek Freans factory built in Canada is still running and they
still make plenty of Peek Freans. In fact Kraft has grown the brand in
Canada. Alot of Indian/Pakistani/Arabics are moving to Canada and
apparently those cultures have a love of English style cookies!

I had never tasted oreo before and didn't really know what it was, but last
week I had some Cadbury's chocolate that had a layer of oreo in it It was
very nice too (If I am understanding correctly what you are talking about
?)

A chocolate covered Oreo is pretty tasty. I can only handle one of those. A taiyaki is a Japanese snack that is cooked in a fish shaped waffle iron. Typically it's filled with sweetened bean paste or custard. The one I saw had an Oreo stuck in the fish's belly. That's just plain goofy.

Oreos seem to be having a resurgence in popularity in the US and are getting to be pretty popular worldwide. My guess is that you'll be seeing deep fried Oreos soon. I've had some. They're tasty. I can only handle half of one of those.
