It seems that in the US we never learn. In certain parts of the country
it's OK to kill a non Anglo Saxon. There was a case in a Detroit suburb
where Vincent Chin (Chinese) was clubbed to death with a baseball bat.
This was about fifteen years ago. I forget the charge, but his assailants
got off with probation.

The Feds then came in and charged them with a civil rights violation and
they were put away for a long time.

Two terrible decisions. First the assailants were let off and then retried
and put away. However you want to twist legal definitions it is still
double jeopardy.

What a strange country we live in.
