Default Ghee now available at Trader Joe's

Get your ghee while you can.

It might be at your local Trader Joe's right now.

It's ghee time.

Well thanks for the heads up about that. I have seen them making it on TV and it looks complicated. i will instruct the Warden to buy some in the near future. Not sure what will use it for since we dont eat furrin foods etc. Have you tried coconut oil? Thats healthy,

ok, now we need a report back - how "nutty" is it? There are variations of
ghee.

Yes, I saw it at mine a couple of days ago - prominently displayed on
an end cap, so you can't miss it. Good price too. Slightly over $3
for a decent sized bottle. Didn't buy it because I don't cook much
Indian food, but I think I will get it anyway the next time I'm in
there.

I thought brown butter is the nutty tasting one, theirs is blonde.

I don't know what you would call what I do but every time I make fried
eggs, I'll put some butter in the pan and heat it up just until it
turns brown. Then I put the eggs in. That seems to add a nice flavor
to the eggs.

I do not know what you have seen. Making ghee is
definitely not complicated contrasted with recipes
people post here---baking cakes, making hollandaise... .
I make it and use. I put rice in a heavy pan with some
ghee and a bit of salt, heat it up, add boiling water
and cover. That is how to make perfect steamed rice. I
use ghee to make potatoes Anna, and to fry an egg.
