My friend and I were talking about this. Both of our moms served us this stuff. She is somewhat older than me and she said in her childhood it was one of the few prepared things you could buy. Her mom worked so she could have it at home and she or her older brother could stick it in the oven for a couple of hours and when her mom got home, she had just enough time to make the sides. My mom seemed to like it because there was light and dark meat. She also seemed to love those packages of brown and serve rolls with both the white and wheat ones. But I think she might have been the only one who was enamored with them. |

One is a gym now and another is a Central Market. They are still in the area, just nowhere near here. If we ever do go anywhere and see one, I always stop in. |

Heinz is a tomato ketchup and it's just in a regular squeeze bottle. Chili sauce is tomato based. I have no idea why it's called chili sauce because there's no chili in it, it just is - and always has been. The stuff with heat is called "hot" sauce. Nowadays, we also have "Asian" style chili sauce on the shelves - but it's prefaced by Asian or the brand name and never confused with American style chili sauce, which is tomato based and has no heat. The chili sauce I was talking about previously is this one http://albertsons.elsstore.com/app/i...113701209l.jpg If you're going to buy Midwest American style, that's the one to buy. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

The meat department at the store I usually shop at was reorganized when I was in a couple of days ago and I saw those light/dark meat combo turkey rolls I was lamenting not having seen in a few years. I would have bought one, but I wouldn't be using it immediately and I simply do not have any room in my freezer for storing it at the moment. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |
