With porcini sauce. I have never made them before, but had it a few times in 2 places from where my family is from in N Italy. I made my own veg stock to poach them in and wow, freaking fabulous for peasant food. Knoedel in Austrian cuisine, correct?

Were they served as a side dish with meat or in soup? I absolutely loved those huge knodel (aka: noodle/gnocchi) balls I ate in Germany, but I haven't had the nerve to make them at home because I envision them falling apart as soon as I put them into the liquid to simmer. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

No I didn't post the recipe- it came from "Quatro Fromaggio" which is a pretty funny site. My mom said that when she made them, they did fall apart, but mine stayed together quite nicely. I just followed the posted recipe directions. Really, really tasty! |

Interestingly enough, that's the recipe I saved as soon as you mentioned canederli. Thanks. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |
