After the proposed food delivery program by Piggly Wiggly I signed up to
get their weekly sales promotion. Just to see what they consisder good sales. The store is out of my way from shopping for anything. I won't drive out of my way unless they have something spectacular on sale. Sure doesn't sound like it to me! I can't think of the last time I saw "cubed steak" at Publix. The Pig has it for $2.48/lb. It seems to go on sale every couple of weeks. But you have to buy the "family pack" and have a "Pig Card" to get the sale price. And it doesn't seem like much of a sale price to me. Cubed steak does make a pretty good country fried steak, but I can pound some round steak myself with a meat mallet and don't have to buy 12 of them. Ditto the "split boneless chicken breast", 98cents/lb, but again, you have to buy the family pack. I don't eat enough chicken breasts to bother. Another item in online sales flyer: buy 6 gallons of milk, get the 7th free. Who the hell buys six, much less 7 gallons of milk?! I like to drink milk But not that much! Jill |

Our market had a promo but they tracked it from your store card and you got one free after the required purchase. |

Your experience is not the norm. IME, you have to take them all at once. What really gets me is when they want you to buy two and get two free... yeah, sure - in your dreams, company executive. You're selling to city dwellers, most of whom have only a refrigerator and no free standing freezer. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

Maybe even one of them really DOES eat it, but that's while the other members of their family turn up their noses and mock them for eating it. You're the butt of a yearly inside joke ("Oh no! Not Uncle Joebob/Aunt Betty's fruitcake AGAIN!") |

I thought buy one get one free was too much for a lot of things! |

Are you talking about "Food Lion" by any chance? I know they have stores in your state. They've had that exact deal in the past but you don't have to buy 6 gallons at once. You use your store card each time and that keeps count for you. Once you've purchased 6 gallons, you'll get a coupon for a free gallon. You get several months to accumulate the milk credits. Here's the info for the 2009 promo: http://supermarketnews.com/latest-ne...label-milk-web G. |

We only bought milk in 2 quart cartons when I was a kid. If we had it at all. Mostly we had powdered. Bro and I were required to have it at meals when we were younger but we never willingly drank any. |

You can just buy one and it's half off the regular price. The one other store though does require buying 2 items for the sale price. I rarely shop there. G. |

Apparently that's how it works, yes. I didn't read the details because I don't buy milk by the gallon. Again, the store is out of my way. The gas used to get to/from would eat up any real savings. Steve read the details, it's spread over 6 weeks. Still doesn't help. I don't drink/use a gallon of milk a week. Jill |

I've started buying 1/2 gallons even though I pay more for them. Even with the 1/2 gallons, I'll freeze a couple of 8oz containers for coffee milk down the road. G. |

One store makes you buy three of something to get the sale price. |
