I got tired of the bitching here and finally took a look at each of my pics
on my FB. Seems that some, but only some were set to "Public". I don't know why. Only thing I can figure is that it had something to do with the many changes they are always making to it. Those pics were apparently put on there either before or after or perhaps even during one of those changes. Either way, I think I took care of them all. Not even sure about that because not all of the albums give me the same options. At any rate, it would have been nice if somebody could have told me what to do about it rather than just harping at me and telling me that I did something wrong. But based on what I've seen here, that's not likely to happen. At any rate, not going to lose any sleep about it one way or t'other. Most of those pics that were set to "Public" are also on my friend's pages somewhere. So it wouldn't really matter how I set them. Oh and I still can't find a "Private" setting on there anywhere. So to the person who mentioned this to me, kindly tell me how to do this. Not that I necessarily will mind you. I just want to see it on there. |

I put pictures onto FB to share with some or all of my friends (I don't have hundreds) and family. It's pretty simple. If I don't want them to see a picture it doesn't go to FB. One precaution you can easily take is go to the gear icon, Privacy Settings and toggle the "Limit Past Posts" button from time to time - which dials back Friends of Friends and Public to Friends only and doesn't affect your custom settings on images. Honestly, I think it's pretty tacky to post anything set at "friends of friends" - you're needlessly annoying strangers. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

Chances are that I know them anyway. But I have been told that there is something that says "Private". I do not see anywhere on there that spefic word. I don't have any pics on FB that I don't want anyone to see. Which is why I can't see why people here were getting so bent out of shape about it. |

I don't need them suggesting other "friends" simply because I might know someone who knows someone who *maybe* knows me. Jill,
Glad I'm not the only person who never joined Facebook. Are people so insecure they have to blast all their business to their friends? |

I'm on faecebook but have no 'friends' on there. I'm there for the many for sale groups in my area, and also for a few interest groups, such as camping and hifi, for example. |

But this isn't the first time Jill didn't > want to learn anything new. She was incapable of running Thunderbird, > for example (even though she was offered lots of help). I didn't mean Jill on that one. It's an elderly person that we know. Her aunt urged her to get it. She asked us to get it for her so we did. But she never could figure out how to use it. People would get annoyed because they were sendning her messages and she never responded. We showed her time and again how to do it but she couldn't figure it out. She also no longer seems to be able to figure out emails much of the time, but once in a while she does. She will tell me that she never got my email but when I look on her computer, it is there, unopened. Then every night around 2:00 a.m. I would get these weird messages from her about giant octopus and other such nonsense. I knew that she wasn't up at that hour and wouldn't be sending such messages. Twice, I urged her to change her password, thinking she had been hacked. She became furious when I told her this but did nothing about it until the rest of her "Friends" began telling her of the same thing. So she got even more angry and had someone else remove the FB from her computer. So now, any time we mention FB, she gets upset and says that she would like to have it but could never figure out how to use it. IMO, it's not all that hard to use. Certainly not as hard as Twitter which once you know how to use it, isn't hard. They do make changes and that's annoying but seems easy to me to read and respond to messages on it. |

No, I'm rather glad the snooty ones like Terwilliger and his fan club would rather spend time on FB. Snooty? Not at all. I simply don't like or need the interface. You yourself said they change everything every few months. What's the point? If it works, leave it alone unless you're applying bug fixes. They make it very difficult to unsubscribe. You have to jump through hoops to turn off notifications. And even then, they don't actually delete the account. Hell, they even had a fake account allegedly created by my father, who never touched a computer in his life. Yeah, that's ethical. <sarcasm> My oldest brother pitched a fit and they removed that "account". I am not adverse to change. I did software QA for years. Of course that was business software, not social media crap. The programmers weren't constantly changing things just to make it seem more "cool". There are plenty of other ways for me to stay in contact with family and friends (the ones I want to) than FB. If people love FB, more power to them. I'm simply not one of those people. Jill |

You don't know as much about facebook as you think. I am not your facebook friend, nor am I a "friend of friend". That makes me "public". I could see multiple pictures, not just your profile pic. So, don't assert we are the liars, because it's simply not true. |

It didn't take long (about an hour) when I was informed by the keeper of the gate via email that I was not wanted there. So I unsubscribed. I never posted anything, I was subscribed for less than six hours. I will never again darken the doors of those know nothing sicko facebook freaks. Why pray tell would anyone want to make all their personal bizniz available to everyone on the planet, only reason I can fathom is that NONE of them face book freaks have a life. |

Agreed and if they don't want to see ads, install AdBlock Plus I see what I want to see and it's certainly easy enough to ignore an unwanted friend request. Just click the ignore button - done. If they keep bothering you, then block them and you'll never see them again. I don't get what's so hard about it. -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |
