I don't think sf was going to make them last night. (?) It was Jill
and then I planned to after she put the thought into my head.
Planning to make mine soon.

Pretty well... I think you probably found my post above. Too much
sauce, but other than that - pretty darned good considering I can't
even remember the last time I made scalloped potatoes and never did
make them on any sort of a regular basis. Not so sure about the
prebaking part. One of the reasons I ended up with so much sauce was
because I couldn't let them sit above the liquid while I was simmering
them. I think I'll just make a straight oven method next time.

YOU started it, Gary! The rest of us jumped onto the bandwagon. Jill
just said she uses the Betty Crocker recipe (which would have been my
inclination too, if you hadn't got me looking at internet recipes). I
think Janet was thinking about making scalloped potatoes last night,
but it sounds like she probably didn't after all. So, it was me,
myself and I who did it.

Waiting for the check-ins after everyone follows through! This is
turning into a spur of the moment mini-cook-along.

Well I did end up using the Betty Crocker recipe for scalloped
potatoes but then I couldn't resist putting a little X-sharp cheddar
cheese and a handful of breadcrumbs between the 2nd and 3rd layer. The
cheese sounded good to me but not enough for her au gratin recipe. A
little bit more shredded cheese on top too...to brown.

Anyway....it's in the oven now for almost an hour still. I can't wait
to try it.

I must have missed the original thread about it but I make my scalloped
potatoes with Swiss or Gruyere cheese. I slice the potatoes using a
mandolin. I'm sure you've already enjoyed your dish!
