No, she did not. First mention of him;

L said, he is an older man, an incontinent mess for the past 10
years, unable to get out, and she does not want to do terminal care ever
again.

What part of that sounds like a simple urinary problem ?

Yes, I can understand that.

All of it, especially ongoing for 10 years. Most people, male and
female, suffer simple urinary problems for many years because they
don't think it important enough to seek medical help and/or are simply
embarrassed. Don't you see all the ads on TV for men to buy depends
and to have their prostate checked?

"Terminal care" , and his age, didn't give you a clue?
The guy is OLDER THAN L.. and she was married for 40+ years and has
been widowed for 20.

No, I've never seen depends (or equivalent) advertised on UK TV.
Possibly because in the UK, the NHS supplies serious incontinence
products, and advertises prostate checks and care in every GP waiting
room.
There's no TV advertising of prescription-only medicine here, either.

Perhaps the UK has Depends equivalents... perhaps yoose call them
Bloke's Nappies. LOL
You're attempting to take my point off track, ain't gonna work...
there was NO reason to mention that man's wallet... his wealth (or
lack thereof) has nothing whatsoever to do with being a good friend
(friends like that are no friends at all), it was gauche to mention.
Actually it was uncalled for talk about one's personal losses on a
cooking newsgroup, take it to email and keep it in email... because
it's patently unfair to apprise some but not others of details of ones
personal life. I really don't give a sou that she had to care for her
sick husband, that's what she contracted to do in her wedding vows...
or was it just a Shack Up sans that "Sickness or Health" clause.

Those ads drive me crazy. What really got to me was former Vice
President Bob Dole touting Viagra. Do we really need to know your dick
doesn't get hard without a pill?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBdgpjnKInA

This clip also includes an ad Mr. Dole did for Pepsi. So it's sort of
OB Food. Only if you consider soft-drinks food. Or even a beverage.

Agreed and he will be lucky to have her for his friend.
