Default Tonight's cocktail hour

Probably the strongest cocktail you can make as it has no mixers. I
present: The Negroni. We've seen it here before but it is a drink like no
other and bears repeating.

Equal parts Campari, Sweet Vermouth and Gin stirred over ice. Add a slice
of orange. To do it right, take an orange peel in one hand and a lighted
match in the other. Squeeze the rind while holding the match between it and
the glass. You'll get a burst of aromatics that add a little drama.

Drink wisely, you have to work tomorrow.

I make a variation with Punt y Mes (for the vermouth) and Aperol (for
the Campari) which makes a slightly less bitter version. Sometimes I do
a lemon peel instead of orange.

I'll have to ask my son - the bartender. He just called it a variation
on a Negroni.

Sounds more like a whole different drink. Would be interested in trying it
out if I can get the ingredients.

Interesting switch. I'll try it.

It is and it isn't. The Punt e Mes is a type of vermouth and the Aperol
is a bitter, so....anyway my son doesn't have a name for it. Says there
are so many variations.

A Manhattan has no mixers, either. Nor a martini. Just booze. (And
bitters in the Manhattan, but I wouldn't call that a mixer.)
