Meatballs do tend to flatten out a bit. Brussels sprouts aren't round, either. But they sure are tasty! Jill |

The rationale was that lunch meats were generally round (bologna, salami, etc.) so why sell bread that would extend past the meat? |

Round bread? Didn't some of the early bread machines make round loaves? And there are recipes for bread
baked in round cans, like the old 2 and 3 pound coffee cans, which they probably don't make anymore. But I think there are commercial sizes of canned fruit and vegetables that come in large round cans. N. |

My Webuilt ABM bakes round loaves... and I appreciate round slices for sandwiches, because coldcuts are round, not typically square, and so fit much better... kind of like how rolls are round and no one complains that they should be square. White Tower burgers are square if you want to call those things burgers. |

Of course they won't be can-shaped. But now we've just wandered off talking about round bread... Jill |

You can get buns or those sandwich thins. |

That's something I want to make soon - I have cans saved over at DD's so hubby can't throw them away or use them for something else. Now that the weather is turning, I'll make brown bread and a pot of "Boston" baked beans (thinking the slow cooker will be a great replacement for the bean pot with separate burner that I used to have). -- Food is an important part of a balanced diet. |

I made it as a kid, mainly to torment my dad. He has always referred to wheat or whole wheat bread as brown bread, as opposed to white bread. At home we knew what he meant but it meant confusion in restaurants to most servers. Seems that most (especially the younger ones) have not even heard of brown bread. I saved my cans, made it and presented it to him. Heh. Have also bought the canned stuff at the grocery store to give to him. Nobody really liked it enough for me to make it again but it was okay. |
