Crock pot chicken and veggies. Really good. I had company yesterday and had
been cooking for a couple of days already to get ready for them and
football, so I was tired of cooking and the chicken was easy. :-)

Sounds like last night was comfort food night. We had church lady
Shepherds Pie. My wife bought it at her church's Christmas bazaar. It
was delicious Served it with salad and steamed asparagus.

Okay, you made me laugh.

I also looked up red pears... did you know that a type of Bartlett is
also red? That must be the one I ate this summer - I like Bartletts
anyway and now there are two to like!

So they're new? I wondered how I'd missed it all these years! This
was around midsummer - Anjou comes later in the season.

Yeah, you're probably right. Gotta keep the inventory changing to
keep the customers interested and all that stuff.

Ordinary grocery store type markets? I know Anjou has been around
forever, but it comes September and beyond. I don't recall seeing red
pears in the middle of summer before.

Pears are one of the more ancient cultivated fruits, native to
China... there
are well over 3000 distinct varieties, most are never seen at US
markets.
