Looks like they have the knives pulled and are ready to go for the kill.

Her soon to be ex husband is hardly a credible source.

A man with a lot of money and already in a dicey situation with her
would risk losing a lot of money if he was making false accusations. He
could be sued and be subjected to huge financial penalties. I would
imagine that someone of her generation and travelling in her circles
most likely tried recreational drugs. The US is getting damned right
silly about barring people who have been honest enough to admit to
having used drugs. The supposed land of the free has little room in its
jails for violent criminals because there are so many of those
dangerous pot smokers behind bars.

He's such a slimeball! Spreading innuendo, hoping to start rumors and
a whisper campaign. I think Nigella still has public sympathy though.
I'm not interested in that show though.

This will keep the gossip and rumor mills busy for months. Will we ever

In English law, anything given in evidence in court, under oath, is
"privileged" meaning the speaker can't be sued for libel. Nor can those
who (accurately) report what was said/produced in court.

I like her shows but confess I've never cooked any of her recipes. And according to the article they are already divorced. He comes across as very vengeful and controlling.

The truth? From a British tabloid? I doubt it. That was the basis on my
issues with the story a few months ago about her being choked in a
restaurant.

No need to rely on tabloids; the evidence in the criminal court case
against the Saatchi's employees, will be fully reported elsewhere.

The accused introduced the drug claim as part of their defence so the
prosecution will be asking many questions to test it.

I've made Nigella's Slut Red Raspberries in Chardonay Jelly! It's very
good! :-)

She's my favorite Food Goddess! :-)

I like her a lot too. I did make her Spanish Chicken thighs with Chorizo a
few months ago. They were very good.

Oh, my god... that is the BEST dish. I make it with fresh Spanish
chorizo and it's absolutely fantastic.

I just finished re-reading Anthony Bordain's 'Kitchen Confidential'.
Apparently there is more than just marijuana to be concerned about.
Rampant use of cocaine, meth amphetamines. Allegedly everyone in the
kitchen is stoned.

Oh, and don't order the fish special on Monday.

You can say anything in a divorce court. It's pretty common for at least
one side to lie their ass off.

Yes, it still stands out in my mind. I have to make it again soon.

Since there are always two sides to every story, you can probably bet that
both are telling some truth and some lies. :-)

I don't live in Toronto, but if I did I would probably vote for him. He
has some good ideas. A couple weeks ago he was fighting a plan by city
council to build low cost housing on the waterfront. I agree with him
on that one. Waterfront property is high demand, expensive land and I
think that housing money would be better spent on the buildings than on
the premium land.

Ford's predecessors were a little odd. Barbara Hall would not allow a
now famous local band to play at city functions because she objected to
their name... the Bare Naked Ladies. David Miller wanted to clamp down
on gun violence and instead of shutting down the after hours clubs where
most of the shootings were taking place, they shut down legitimate
shooting ranges that had been leasing space from the city. Those ranges
were so trouble free that most people did not even know they were there.
Under Ford's direction, the shootings were drastically reduced.
Apparently he drinks a lot, smokes pot once in a while and admitted to
having smoked crack. He has done his job effectively IMO.

The city would also lose out on a lot of premium tax revenue too.
Sounds like a dumb idea.

That was the other part of his argument. If the land was developed with
luxury housing the tax revenues would be a lot higher. Some of those
revenues could be used to provide more low cost housing on more
affordable land. Call me elitist, but I really don't think that
subsidized housing should be located on prime property. People with
their own money are willing to pay more for it, and poor people are not
in a position to demand that sort of luxury.

Before the crack story broke he was faulted for getting away from the
office to coach a football team for underprivileged kids. The champagne
socialists on city council have no problem voting to spend the tax money
that other people pay to fund programs for the poor, but they don't want
to actually be exposed to the poor. Ford would rather invest his
personal time with them than to throw money at them.

I'd be against it too. Not should people only pay more for prime
land... they should be able to pay the increased *taxes* on that land.
Affordable housing is subsidized by tax payers, so it will be a
lose-lose situation to put affordable, aka low cost, housing on prime
land.

I sure as hell wouldn't. He's supposed to be the face of Toronto, as much a
PR job as a councillor. His disgusting behaviour eliminates him as a mayor.
Calgary's Mayor Nenshi is an excellent example of what a mayor should be
like.
Fancy, a Moslem wins the job in such a conservative City and Province.
