Let me be the first to mention that fact. She last posted here like 8
days ago. I hope she's ok, but she was having computer problems and was talking about putting hers in the shop to get fixed. Just wondering. It's not like her to be absent for so long. :-D G. |

Yeah, she said she had problems downloading some newsgroups. I don't know what the computer guys can tell her about that. Most of the 20-something geeks have never even *heard* of Usenet. Jill |

Not sure where you got that from. Perhaps from another site...here is a quote from it. "> Have not seen you on the board recently. Hope all is well. It is now. Computer had been going slower and slower and then finally failed to reboot a week ago Thu. Computer was in shop. Angela has a little Netbook that I did borrow but I didn't want to have to download a newsserver onto it since I knew she would never use it. And I hate to access via Google Groups. Computer was actually ready on Tues. Shop called while Angela and I were out attempting to dig ourselves out of the freak blizzard that hit (I think) on Mon. Apparently they will no longer plow residential roads around here or in Seattle. So while the main road was clear, ours was not. One car swerved through a driveway three doors down and another spinout just past there took out a stop sign. Due to the snow, we were unable to do our Thanksgiving until today. My mom wasn't able to get out and get the turkey. We are due for more snow on Fri. Grrrr... Looks like the news was right about the bad winter here. And it isn't even winter! Oh! And the problem with the computer? Viruses. I don't know how I got them but one disabled my Norton. Computer shop put Malwarebytes on here. I did have it, but I was having some issues with Norton not functioning and Norton said Malwarebytes was the problem, so they uninstalled it for them. Bottom line, I trust the computer shop. I've known the owner for years and know many people who trust their computers to him. He said the Malwarebytes will work with the Norton." Does that ring any bells? === |

Ya know these days it costs less to buy a new computer than to pay for shop time... hardware costs less than software, and definitely costs less than techy time. Just bought a brand new wireless HP printer directly from their site for half price. Arrived today and works great. http://www.shopping.hp.com/en_US/hom...in-One-Printer |

My HP flatbed scanner has just packed up and I think it may be cheaper to buy a new one. I hate the waste that we put up with in electronic gear these days. Graham |

They didn't mangle anything. I know the owner. His daughter used to dance at the same studio as mine. She's older and probably off to college somewhere now but he does the music for our recitals. Very good shop to take a broken computer to. They stand behind what they sell too. When Angela's Netbook developed a problem, they loaned her a computer while waiting for the part to come. This computer was my dad's. It had a bad folder in the mail program. It may well have been like that when I got the computer. I have only been running it since probably the end of August. Or it could have come from an infected email. Hard to say but no other problems with it. My computer chair is broken though so am currently sitting on a folding chair. I have two similar chairs behind me for the cats. They love them and love to sit behind me. New chair is purported to arrive tomorrow. It's burgundy. I bought burgundy pads for Jazzy and Jetta's chairs so they will match mine. So now the colors in this room are burgundy, purple and brown. > ObFood: All those toaster oven reviews never rate what happens when > they catch fire. I didn't cook anything today since I spent the evening at the hospital. Bought our dinner at Target. Applesauce and crackers for me. Angela had cheese, apples, pretzels and carrots. We're both getting over a nasty stomach bug. I'll spare you the details. Not planning to cook for the rest of the week since I may well be camped out at the hospital. Bought some cooked chicken (not fried) for husband and also some breakfast burritos and a raw veggie snack plate. There is still some mac and cheese from Central Market that I was hoping he'd eat tonight. I think all he had tonight was pumpkin pie. It was a stressful night for all. Is that enough words for ya? Enough drama? |

All went well except for the part where I hurled all 4 smoked turkey legs (one with a bite taken out of it) into the green bin. Wish I had been able to read this newsgroup where you said not to serve them that way prior to my serving them that way! But... The computer was in the shop by then. I think... Found out that the store where I bought them *did* have regular legs. A person I know said that she bought two and they were frozen. But there were none when I looked. Perhaps will talk to the butcher next year early on and they might hold them for me. Glad to have my computer back! I do love my Ipad but my hand does not. Thankfully due to my stomach bug I was able to heal the old Ipad hand. You know, the thing where your hand resembles a claw shape and the muscles get all tense and it can only be relieved by heat and/or a vigorous massage! |

It did say that but... I don't know how that happened. >> My computer chair is broken though so am currently sitting on a folding >> chair. > > <?scratching head?> The portion of the chair that raised and lowered it would not stay raised. I have long legs so need it fully raised. I noticed that my legs kept going numb while sitting in the chair. And then I noticed that the chair was down low. I was sitting with my legs draped across the floor. Took me a good long while to realize that the chair was in fact broken. At first I thought that someone or a cat was messing with the chair. And it wasn't just lowering itself suddenly. If it had done that, I would have noticed. Nope. It would stay up for perhaps 10-15 minutes then begin the descent. So... It's out in the garage in pieces. Would have thrown part of it out if I'd had the time earlier, but I wasn't even thinking about it when I took the bins to the street and left. Then didn't get back till late. So... Not only was a minus a computer but I am still minus a chair. > >> I have two similar chairs behind me for the cats. They love them >> and love to sit behind me. New chair is purported to arrive tomorrow. >> It's >> burgundy. I bought burgundy pads for Jazzy and Jetta's chairs so they >> will >> match mine. And you don't want > that. I don't think it is possible for me to sit in three chairs at once. My butt is just not that big. I decided to get two new folding chairs because I had this one (the one I am now sitting in) behind my computer chair. Orignally I got it to sit in so I could watch Angela as she did her homework, on my computer. But she has her own now and no need to watch her. But... The cats liked to sit on it to be near me. And recently, they had been knocking each other off of the chair because they can no longer both fit on it at the same time. Jetta is about 8 months old now but slightly bigger than Jazzy. So... When the computer chair arrives, this one will get folded up somewhere. Meanwhile, both cats can sit behind me and both are insanely happy. > >>> ObFood: All those toaster oven reviews never rate what happens when >>> they catch fire. >> >> I didn't cook anything today since I spent the evening at the hospital. >> Bought our dinner at Target. > > We heard about the turkey. > >> Is that enough words for ya? They have really cool in-room > reclining chairs for guests but they make me snore. I wish this hospital had those. I had the one folding chair in this room today. They did offer to bring more in but we declined. At least if we go tomorrow, we will be better prepared and can pack a dinner. There is a cafeteria and they do serve healthy fare but very limited offerings. |
